Yesterday I filled car with petrol. Didnβt wear a mask. Pub last night, mask worn for approx 10 seconds. Never used hand sanitizer when shopping. No foreign travel booked, so no effect on my life. At my club tonight, few frames of snooker and a quiz after. Mask will be worn for about 10 secs again on way in, so another 10 secs mask wearing required. Ross, you should probably stop believing all that you read in the news. Most of the UK are very happily going about their own lives now. Stop wasting your life, get over here and do some boating. Β Why did you even put a mask on for two times 10 seconds?Β Do you wear a mask in shops?Β You say that "most of the UK are very happily going about their own lives now" yet dogless/Rog reports travelling on an empty train (or empty carriage) - and that doesn't sound like 'normal'.Β Are you not afraid of the virus spreading as you play snooker with no face mask on?Β It sounds like a very naughty boys' club. Β You don't seem to be aware that 'getting over here' costs around Β£600/person for obligatory 'Covid tests'. A lion at the zoo is also free to walk around its cage. An illusion of freedom is not freedom. Mask was worn as that is the club/pub rules, at the moment. As for being a naughty boys club, well that may well be true. They do follow the government rules though, so not that naughty. Does it really cost that much to get into the UK? I thought covid tests were about Β£50 now for air travel?

An illusion of freedom is not freedom. None of us have ever had complete freedom to do what we want regardless of others. For us lucky ones our freedom is moderated by some form of democracy rather than a 'lion eats dog' society. Most of us are content with that.

naughtyfox I guess the trains are quieter partly because lots of people now work from home online. I merely pointed out that the experience of train travel is much pleasanter on a train less than 50% occupied, than on a full train with standing room only. I do not wish to travel abroad anymore ... I am enjoy exploring my home country. If I wished to visit foreign countries I would expect to have to comply with their demands and qualifications, and pay the going rate ... or not go ...it would be my choice. I agree with ianali ... I see the restrictions are easing, people are becoming more relaxed and at ease, and society for the most part seems to be getting back to what it was. Rog

You wear a mask walking about in pubs, clubs, cafes, restaurants ...but once seated you take the mask off.
That's not irresponsible ... that's the situation.

I thought you had to filter the beer through the mask in case any virus particles had accidentally settled into the glass.
That's clever to be allowed to drink without a mask over your mouth. Well thought out !

Does it really cost that much to get into the UK? I thought covid tests were about Β£50 now for air travel? So they are following 'the rules' - hardly 'freedom', is it? So, you are breaking 'the rules' in your club. Which is not the same as 'freedom' but good for you (as I think the whole Covid affair is a scam) - although I'm sure many would frown on that - and I am just pointing out the bare two-facedness of it all. Perhaps some of TB's residents would like to go to your club and tell you all how 'irresponsible' you all are for not wearing masks, and don't you know there's a dangerous virus going around... etc, etc, etc. Whilst they themselves break 'the rules' when it's convenient for them.

Iβm not sure what rules we are breaking at the club? I/we wear a mask on entry until we sit. Then the lovely girl that works the bar serves us drinks. We are seated all this time. The snooker table is next to our drinking table. The covid laws state that masks are not required for the playing of games if the mask in anyway impedes the player. Obviously a mask impedes the playing of snooker. Therefore no rules broken here. Maybe Iβm missing something but I canβt see what we are doing thatβs unlawful?

Great news! No face masks in the supermarkets after June 21st! No quarantine for Brits returning from abroad! What will the newly-hired Covid Marshalls be doing then? What is their purpose? How magnanimous of Boris, a proven liar, to give us our freedom back! Was it really his to take away in the first place? What's this 'Our' business....?

Oh do keep up ... those comments are SO 2020 ... we've all moved on and thinking about summer (UK vacc programme's been a massive success you know ) Rog Has it? Have we? The uk has only vaxed barely half the population, and case numbers are slowly increasing. I donβt think we are out of the woods just yet. There are a lot of people not looking at getting the vaccine, hence the governmentβs drive to get those not taking up the offer to engage. On top of that they are predicting newer more advanced covids will not succumb to the vaccines. I suspect that by the end of June, we will be back in shit street, if not sooner.
