This is just pointless arguing over semantics. CRT had the legal right to remove Halcyon Daze from the waterway. You had the legal right to claim it back, and you chose not to. This is the end game now. You have no further legal recourse available to you. If you wish to continue blustering on this forum then that's your right, just don't be surprised if we call it out for what it is. This will obviously come as something of a shock to you, . . but statute and common law are totally dependant on semantics in both application and function. The 'Law' doesn't follow or bend to the whims and notions of some megalomanic tosspot sitting behind a desk in some half-arsed apology for a navigation authority's office in Milton Keynes, . . or muddle-headed twerps on an internet forum. Statute functions and common law evolves and functions on the back of one thing -- SEMANTICS -- so get used to the idea. C&RT is having to ! Ok well post an update and a few pics when you get your boat back.

I suspect the boat has been reserved for future use.
The new so called owner is going to get a hell of a shock when the blah blah blah is fully blah blah blahed.

The latest story from 'Credit Control' at C&RT's billing and accounts office - some 4 weeks after this "new owner" supposedly "took possession" - is that Criminal Boat Services sell Section 8'd boats and then settle up by sending C&RT a cheque in the post, . . and they're still waiting for "the cheque to clear". Believe that, . . and you'd believe anything !

Sounds like it’s been sold.

Sounds like it’s been sold. You think that in this day and age that two large companies turning over hundreds of thousands of pounds through each other yearly are going to be settling-up with cheques through the post ? Get real !

Only one of you needs to move before getting another Overstay Notice. Or even an "Oversize Notice", . . under the new Licence T&C's that come into force next week. It's a pity there isn't a Boater's Representative on the C&RT Council who can help him out with this !

Get real ! Again you are making your classic and perennial mistake of confusing CRT with a person. Cheques for retail use by end customers may be pretty much dead but they are still widely used in B2B transactions. In fact, when they say they are waiting for it to clear, this does not mean the same as a person waiting for a cheque to clear, i.e. it has been deposited into a bank. Payment from CBS may well have missed April's cut-off date in which case it might not even be posted until next Monday, and depending how often CRT deposit cheques it could be another week or two before the transaction is settled.

Well, perhaps the bank have got the cheque but for reasons unknown, they have decided to leave it sitting somewhere for three weeks before they do anything with it?

I'll take issue with that.
Nowadays B2B is usually by transfer. Although my dealings with such are less than they used to be, all companies that I am aware of, use direct transfer payments not cheques

In 2019 there were 272,000,000 cheques issued in the UK so someone must still be using them.

Normally by Great Auntie Glad's who send you a cheque for £2 for your birthday (which costs you £3 in petrol/diesel/parking to cash)!
And woe betide you if you don't fork out for a nice Thankyou card in response.

Bogus boater sounds about right yes. Or perhaps a rogue boater, boguing on a bogue. Assuming the vessel is now afloat. This seems to be accurate terminology. bogue noun (2) \ " \ plural -s Definition of bogue chiefly South & Midland : a passage of water : STREAM bogue intransitive verb \ ˈbōg \ -ed/-ing/-s Definition of bogue dialectal : to move aimlessly or slowly just boguing around In fact I suspect there are quite a few rogues boguing on a bogue and who can blame them !
