As a boat safety examiner, I wouldn't take a tip... ok when I said I wouldn't , I'm partial to JD honey. But only after the inspection. Before however, bacon egg butty and a coffee will do the trick ;-)

He's based Leeds & Liverpool Canal. A bit fussy - but that's what we wanted.

quaysider - the costs will go down over the next 20 years; you will be riding on what you have invested now. Do make sure you use the boat for travelling and seeing England. It's what it's for. Get a couple of decent bicycles to keep on the roof. I can advise on those.

When it's finished, we're going to quit our jobs... take a year off and doss around (trying to eek out the savings) before turning her into a hotel (ish) boat. I'm already in touch with a local bss chap from mirfield and he's happy to advise as we go along .

And a card always goes down well When I collected Patty Ann I made a card from one of these create a card places and used photographs of the build from shell to completion. I composed lines basically thanking him for all his advice/expertise and for helping me see a dream through to creation. Without this guy who lined and sorted out the fit out I would have been in a real mess. He taught me how to drive my boat and everything I needed to know..I used to take loads of questions and he never made fun of me. I gave him some cash when all completed, towards his own boat which he was in the process of fitting out. We stayed friends and I used to continue texting questions..he would answer and when I went out if I made a mess I would ring him for advice. There are some real ace people in the boating community and he's one of them.
