Washing machine discharge hose is a backup option if you get into problems with not having the right size hose for the pump.
I seem to recall the one I used had different sized rubber ends which was handy.

I'll sort once the pump arrives.

I had just shy of 300litres of water under the floor of my boat when I bought it. Only discovered because a wet patch was noted on the survey under the waterpump and another appeared on the opposite side of after its road trip. All removed with a cheap Argos wetvac, easiest and best way as it clears it all.......

Does a wetvac come with about a 3 or 4 meter hose to discharge overboard?

No, wetvacs have a tank, just seen 20ltr mentioned. So it has to be lifted. Or tank pumped out with a bilge pump over the side. Or a chain of wetvacs...

The wet vac comes with a suction hose that lets you leave the reservoir on the deck and will suck up the length of the hose, so tipping over the side is no big sweat.

Have a cheap bilge pump from amazon due to arrive at the not too far to walk Coop on Saturday, hoping that will clear at least the big volume of water. hope you get the water problem sorted soon ref the ribs please take care, keep regular pain relief in the system for few days..but remember Brufen can cause awful indigestion so take with food(no beer is not food in this instance) they will take a while to heal..maybe try and get extension on the mooring if only 48hrs

How are you getting on Andy? -have you braved Shepley lock yet and began your descent ? - don't forget ... Millbank lock is the only one to worry about so try and recruit someone to help through that one... at your length that will be moist to say the least!

Millbank lock is the only one to worry about so try and recruit someone to help through that one... at your length that will be moist to say the least! Above Millbank (moored just below the double locks near the Dewsbury Arm). Was going to try Millbank today but decided a fresh start tomorrow best. Will assess when I get there tomorrow am and empty lock before attempting it - if it looks too bad I'll just stay there until a friendly helpful boater comes along.
Thanks for asking and I'll update once through.

Wakefield. Friendly gangs of Pakistanis hanging around the locks. Good luck running the gauntlet! Usual bollocks, never had any bother, talked to lots of humans round there, most born here by the sound of the accent. Left the boat on the moorings for a week or two, no problem. Resident moorers don't have a problem either. They did grumble about a miserable migrant from Finland who came through, pooh on the front of his boat.

That lock can attract a few... interesting folks but it depends on what time of day you get there. Most are happily pissed or happily stoned - either way, a bit of polite interaction with them (and giving them a job to do) has them on your side easily enough. I must admit, when doing it on my own, I do have the boat locked though... just in case.
