A proper joke from them, and that’s all they are good for these days. Sitting at a computer sending out bullshit that follows the social media trends. This particular piece of crap is a day dream, at best. Fickle garbage from the usual crt deadwood.

You don't get it, the CRT are not a boaters organisation, they are some sort of quasi charitable organisation, and as such they HAVE to raise their profile. This means littering the countryside with blue plastic signs, ie re branding, corporate image, social media presence. I don't object to these waste of space ideas so much as I object to the waste of money on a set of canoes, plus an expensive trailer, currently sitting here in the CRT car park, supposed to be for litter picking,. I don't think it will be economic, just send the weed pickers boats up and down the cut, and a few folks in dinghies with outboards preceeding them, throwing litter in to the path of the weed boats. I don't know the cost of six Canadian canoes, plus trailer, plus admin, plus staff, and so far, not one plastic bottle removed from the canal. Just provide boaters with litter pickers and black bags.
Oh, and have the CRT ever thought about re cycling glass bottles?

Well there is certainly one bit of it which is 100% correct
"...provides off-road towpaths perfectly placed for sustainable transport..."
Bicycles. Including electric 2WV. It's the obvious way to move people around.
Making canals less wide, banning mooring and providing proper surfaced 2WV routes along both sides would be far more useful for society in general than a bunch of retired fuddy duddies and liveaboard gits clogging up the valuable resource!!

Edited not to perpetuate such rubbish. Can’t you just keep your ideas to yourself? If cart start start suggesting this your to blame. Although I don’t know why I’d be concerned, but the narrow canals would be ideal.

I think I might have been hit with one of those phishing emails. Dear ###, Canals have always been magical places to me, and I hope they are somewhere you find peace and relaxation too. Yet with many miles of our waterways still in urgent need of revival, your festive gift today can help bring them back to life. Where canals feel run down and uncared for, it’s my team’s job to help transform them into special places. Your donation today will help create new walking or cycling routes, bringing green space and nature back into our towns and cities. From Liverpool to Leeds, Coventry to London, together we can make canals blue, green and better. Blue, green and better canals We believe no other UK charity brings so much blue and green space to so many people. We’re here not just to improve canals, but improve the quality of life of people who live beside them. Over 400 miles of canals have a ‘Green Flag’ award, recognising the healthy, nature-friendly space they provide. With your support, we could create even more. From Bath to Birmingham, Brecon to Pontypool, you can help make life better by water. Please act now by making a donation today. Thank you for supporting our work at this special time of the year. So no option to donate for the upkeep of our historical canals?

Or any options to assist boaters with better facilities or working locks..
Anyone would think they don't want boats on the water.

Anyone would think they don't want boats on the water. I think their actions (or lack thereof) have made that abundently clear

I'm not sure if there is a thread about cyclists, electric cyclists, but I had to get off my own shopper last night, and walk nearly two miles, as I was blinded by these guys, whizzing along, and presumably unable to see me, as their night vision must be ruined by floodlights on their own vehicles. I don't know why they consider this to be exercise, might as well sit at home watching the Tour de France. This is one of the unimproved towpaths L&L, North West, so it's generally wide enough for two cyclists to pass without one ending up in the drink, but I was not willing to risk it at night. PS I feel that the CRT get hammered on here, often with some justification, however it might help if we could come up with "good ideas". Personally, I always combine each of my written complaints with a strategy for resolving the problem. Some of these will inevitably get through to "management", before they are consigned to the archives. So far I have restrained myself from suggesting the drawing of a white line in the centre of the towpath to ensure I always get my fair share of towpath, day or night. Main message to CRT today, and forevermore. Get Rid of Litter

I've got a light wired direct to the battery on my ebike, but it has a lens that focuses downwards, same as a dipped car headlight.

Now that the nights are drawing in I think I will get a high power head torch for my occasional walks on towpaths.
Don't usually need one but when confronted by an idiot with enough illumination to do the Paris-Dakar rally at night it needs countering with a lot of light.
Sometimes it's best to just join in and be an idiot too at least temporarily then switch off the lamp as not needed.

I have challenged cyclists before who have really bright lights pointing up into peoples eyes. They told me it’s for protection against car drivers. I pointed out I’m not a car driver and your not on a road, also that the behaviour is very dangerous on a towpath not to mention selfish. The attitude of self entitlement of some people is unbelievable.
