Just a quick one - I'm off up to the boat to "fettle" something/everything/nothing and drink tea *all may be appropriate* YESTERDAY - whilst chatting with our new boaty neighbours... the old guy behind asked Andy "Is Mark your Dad then?" I could have hit him with my handbag! - the cheek of it... OK so I am a little older but ONLY 7 years!!! Micky taking aside - you can clearly see I don't look THAT much older. The next comment was long the lines of "oh I thought not ... with HIS colouring" .... GINGERIST twat - Andy (for whatever reason) retorted "I hadn't noticed that until we got married and by then it was too late".... Hmmf! A little later on, a few other people came up to intdoruce them selves (really nice bunch of course) and on recalling aforementioned conversation, without exception, they said no offence will have been meant... "He's just Mick" being the response... a straight talking bloke that's impossible NOT to like

7 years... Pah! nothing! Were 18 years. So I could be but then I'm 6'5" and Jeff is ... a lot less. So clearly not from the same gene pool. So we just get the "colleague" comment I've mentioned before.

But under the Scottish system, which may be different from Englandshire, we had until some date in autumn last year to convert it to a marriage free of charge. We had co-incidentally booked a holiday to New York and thus decided with a week's notice to get married the day before the New York trip. Thus perhaps being the only ones to book the honeymoon before arranging the wedding! Anyway, it was an expensive, lavish affair. The wedding was of course free but we had to pay £2.50 to park the car. Outrageous! But I have to say it's much easier to introduce each other as "husband" "rather than "partner", which just leaves the third party confused. It was worth £2.50 just for that!

My brother always introduces his OH as, "This is my husband Matt." Many people take it in stride, but the dumbfounded looks on some peoples' faces as they try to wrap their head around the whole concept is often priceless.
