Just received the stoppage alert ... quickly on the heels of one claiming the locks will ONLY be open 8am to 12 noon every day a new one appears stating the locks are closed until Saturday morning. Not great for the Four Counties hire and share trade in peak season. Can't help but wonder where quaysider is. Rog

I WAS stuck in the flight when they closed it... unknowingly though as they had troups on the ground helping us out - none of whom said it was closed ... ergo we made it to the top, only to discover we were locked in at kidsgrove.
LOTS of fuss and many phone calls followed and by about noon on Friday, some boss man got used some common sense and let the man they'd had there sitting in a van doing nothing for 2 hours, take a chain off and let us out.
I did have to make a fuss on twitter and my customer wasn't very impressed with the situation. hmmf
Next few trips are going to be pain in the arse working aroun 8 to 12 etc not to mentiono the caldon froghall section now being closed too ffs.

We just left the Thames, no significant water going over the weirs, and EA have said closure to navigation is likely in the near future.

This is going to be a difficult decision for you, given the way things are going water shortage or floods, is the business viable in the future? We came back from Castleford without issues, I had planned on going up the L & L but a couple of appointments stopped play luckily as it happens because a lock was closed at leeds at one point.
