Saving the planet... 1. how many face masks have you put in the bin, Jim? 2. What are you going to do about continental drift and the magnetic reversal of the poles? 3. Your electric bike is going to end up in landfill. Or the canal. Being a kit motor, if that dies I'll just replace it. Being metal it wouldn't go in landfill anyway, it would be melted down and recycled. The old 'recycling' myth - sent away for the little elves to take every component carefully to pieces and melt them down, carefully scraping the paint off with tiny scalpels and recycling the paint also... the truth is these things get shipped off to poor countries where people salvage what they can and the rest goes into their landfill. Or it's all dumped in the oceans - out of sight, out of mind.
Why have an electric bike in the first place? Why not use your own muscles to power yourself around? It's just easier for lazy people, and the elderly and infirm, and claiming it all gets 'recycled' helps them to sit comfortably with their conscience. Meanwhile I'm not burning fossil fuels, charge it at home from the solar. Solar panels made by using... fossil fuels... for the mining of their elements and their shipping to the UK.

Your electric bike is going to end up in landfill. Or the canal. However, caring about the planet, I use a cloth one and wash it, dry it on the wind powered drying machine. For a highly contagious airborne deadly virus, that looks like a good way of spreading it around even more. Perhaps your cunning plan is to save the planet by getting rid of the humans... clever!

Just the few arsey ones who do not understand the science, They make no useful contribution to the world, despite having the capacity, they only spread rumour gleaned from Karen and Vlad. ...Brilliantly Clever! Now keep still while I paint a bulls eye target on your arse.

Perhaps your cunning plan is to save the planet by getting rid of the humans... clever! I wonder how many of those people who tweet things like "masks definitely work" would be prepared to spend twelve hours on a hospital ward with the enplagued, protected only by their Chinesium nappy and their Fauci juice. Let's see just how much they trust Da Science. They have an answer. They talk about the Swiss cheese model of protection. Every mask has gaps, none works 100%. But every layer is additive and definitely helps. So, they can wear three masks and take five jabs and stay at home and... if they don't catch Covid that proves it was all worth it, and if they do it is the fault of selfish people* who did less. *mainly Brexiteers

Your boat was an ex Viking I think ... were you a share holder first or simply bought it outright ?
I assume you were a hirer before you took the plunge ?
I wasn't taking the pee ... genuinely interested.

I wasn't taking the pee ... genuinely interested. Rog Yes ex Viking Afloat, the day i paid the deposit i had never steered a boat of any kind! Used to live over looking the canal in Nuneaton, used to sit on the bed in my flat looking out the window watching the boats go past, near boot wharf, also used to walk to work down the canal back in 2003, loved how the boaters would always say hello and wave... Fast forward 10 years and still dreamed of owning one, made plans to buy a sail away and fit it out, lady (Camelot) luck shone on me and gave me the cash to buy one, found Vidar via Gayton and snapped it up for £35k. Had seven great years on him, ripped most of the interior out replaced almost everything, to be honest though towards the end it became a bit of a burden, it was ace going on the boat and spending time cruising, but owning it was a pain, moving it, paying for stuff breaking just made me decide to sell up and cash in while the prices were good, sold for £45k, put the cash into bricks and mortar and loving it. Worse things happen up the ribble link

Must have been summer 2015 i guess? Only went up the Ashby once before the Marina opened, stashed myself away in the marina at Atherstone after that till April 2016
