It's all a lie. Truth is they couldn't afford the diesel to get it to the states.

Isn't identifying a problem and fixing it good maintenance?

Maybe they need to take the engine out and leave it on the stern deck for three weeks?

Isn't identifying a problem and fixing it good maintenance? Rog NO, . . it certainly isn't ! Good maintenance is identifying potential or developing problems, . . and fixing them, . . well BEFORE they lead to breakdowns.

So should one place a working engine on the back deck for a while to prevent future breakdowns.

Good maintenance is identifying potential or developing problems, . . and fixing them, . . well BEFORE they lead to breakdowns. So it's recognising a potential future problem, and then taking necessary action to prevent a negative outcome ... is that what you're saying ? Rog

When I bought my first narrow boat in 1994 the geyser said "all boats stern tubes leak a bit even the QE2" (wrong) and "take it slow around locks" (right)
That carrier must have a pretty large shaft. Anyone know the diameter of this sort of thing? Presumably more than one. 6ft?
