IMGP1445-600x423 by mudlarker2, on Flickr i know but it's reasonably priced and I'm beginning to wish I'd bought a sea going boat rather than an inland waterways boat.

They are a beautiful sight indeed. I guess with a competent crew it can all be sorted out. Probably not one for a single handed boater though.

Smack wheelhouse Wouldn't take much to remove…looking at the angle iron used inside the wheelhouse probably added after.
Love it. And the price seems keen too.

I know but it's reasonably priced and I'm beginning to wish I'd bought a sea going boat rather than an inland waterways boat. Does look a very nice little boat I like the interior. Not sure about headroom but it looks very homely. I'd probably keep the wheelhouse purely for practicality if used to live on. Nice to have a wheelhouse on a residential boat it's somewhere for the wet coats and shoes. Specially on a small boat like that. Must be quite nice going tidal - avoid all the CRT nonsense and just use visitor licenses if you want to venture inland occasionally. Sounds a good option to me. I suppose there is more general aggrevation with varying water levels etc but the idea of losing CRT licensing and regulations and the bs scheme requirements appeals to me quite a lot seems a more "natural" way to exist.

In spite of my, somewhat tongue in cheek comments, It does look like a sweet little boat, if it has kept the smack lines it will be handy even with the reduced sail area due to the wheelhouse. and certainly she looks nicely fitted out. I certainly have nothing against ferro, it is a good, tough, longlasting material although repairs to structural damage can be a bit of a problem. I certainly would prefer to own ferro rather than wood (unless I won the lottery and could employ a shipwright full time )

Aren't there insurance problems with ferro? Or is that only on t'cut? My basic boat third party liability insurance just says "any boat owned by you" no mention of boat type other than is it used solely inland or does it go on tidal waterways and there are maximum speed brackets. Might be a problem for fully comp I suppose.

Aren't there insurance problems with ferro? Or is that only on t'cut? not with most standard insurance companies that deal with salt water boats. I have heard of people having problems with insurance companies that normally only deal with canal boats .... probably due to ignorance more than anything else.
