If I didn't have a boat, I'd definately be going to look at this boat. Although it doesn't say what the problems with the prop shaft or gearbox are or mention what the engine is, I quite like it.

Odd it doesn't give more details but I wondered if maybe it had some sort of major prop foul resulting in bent shaft and gearbox damage. I knew a bloke who had a bad prop foul in the Thames estuary (wire rope) which resulted in the shaft log detaching from the hull (it was a Johnson and Jago teak boat).

Discussed on cwdf thread. Built in 1970s inside an ex FMC motor narrow boat called Carp. Originally with Perkins 6 in it. All softwood hull now with Gardner 6 installed. Unusual boat but as it has a softwood hull its probably a real headache hence the price.

I really love that Andrew !!! what a fantastic little project !!! I've never seen one before.
In spite of my determination not to buy anything else at the moment, I could be really tempted by that !!!
what a delightful little boat, all you need is a garage to keep it in and work on it !!!
I wonder what it will actually go for

I have seen one on eBay before. Could have been this one.
Never seen one on the water though.
I imagine the outboard will be a significant consideration in the final value.
I'd love to get it, sell the outboard fit a decent brushless motor in it with a shaft and a RC plane propeller. Like my electric kayak. Big bank of LiPo batteries in a peli case.
That would be excellent to cruise about in. Too many boats already though !
It looks like it might get on the plane if provided with enough power. Another option might be electric jet drive - that would be fun !!

I know this boat as it belongs to a friend of mine. He just put it on Apollo duck today. Its an unusual take on a wide beam canal barge 70 x 12ft6 (steelwork from 2011). Fitted out for durable long term cruising or mooring live aboard. If my other half was into boats like I am I'd probably have bought it already ! I specially like the fact he's put in a dual hot water system barges.apolloduck.com/boat.phtml?id=561307

The boat is 7 years old, and only has very low hours on the engine, it doesn't say how low the hours are, but that shows that cruising on this boat has been far from a priority for the owner, or he found out that it's not really a practical size for cruising, apart from on the Thames maybe. The beam of 4 m sounds better than the 12'5" which is about 8" less than 4 m. I can't imagine that you would like to buy this boat (if only your other half was into boats), as you would be tarred with the same brush as all the other inconsiderate, wide beam plonkers, squatting waterpoints for days to fill up the tanks for the dual hotwater supply, his and hers, and that only want a maximum of space and don't give a shit about the waterways and other boaters . Peter.

Except that I would put it on my crt residential mooring which has its own water supply Well in that case it won't be the same tar brush, but there will surely be another one waiting for you somewhere over the rainbow . Btw are you entiteled to just put a bigger boat on your mooring, or did you buy a bigger mooring to start with, and put a shorter boat there ? Peter.
