That's a bit of a beast ! 38 x 5m. I think the best commentary on this will come from Peter bargemast

You where on about getting it shortened, I think it's another thing over 200m3 that is a hassle to get legal now days. As you say bargemaster will be along to let's us know. It's a shame as something like this would be brilliant live in the back and workshop in the front.

I didn't notice it was the same one.
another person who might be able to comment on the useability in the UK is Johnv. I think Sabina H is about 5m wide. It is quite restrictive but there are places it can be used - including the Thames.

Could have done with that today ! Pool of London in a 20ft colvic doing 4 knots is rather wobbly specially as the wind picked up just as I got to the houses of Parliament. 50mph in rough water would have been handy ! Did arrive OK at Limehouse but certain items found their way onto the floor and I was glad that I had tied the anchor down on the bow roller !!

It is quite restrictive but there are places it can be used - including the Thames. There are a couple of barges of the Freycinet size trading on the Northern waterways, and there's one in Scotland too as a passenger boat.
You are very restricted for the rest in the UK, unless you have a private mooring somewhere.
Having the living quarters in the backcabin and a workshop in the hold wouldn't be bad, the hold lenght of one of these barges is between 27m and 31m depending on the bulkhead positions.
The person that wrote the ad made a mistake by saying that "There is also a mate’s cabin aft with a single bed", as that most likely should be up front.
As it's not written in the ad, I don't think that this barge has a European Certificat, that will be very hard to get if it hasn't got one now, but maybe that's not needed to take it to the UK.
Btw, I don't think that we've had this one on TB before, we had a similar sized one, but a.f.a.i.k. that wasn't the same barge than this one.
Peter.

Sabina is just on 5.05 metres the biggest restriction in the North for me is airdraft (draft is not too bad as she only draws about 1.2 metres) airdraft of 3.9 metres is above maximum heights in several places but with the radar scanner removed and the solar panels flat she is 3.64 metres which makes some more places at least theoretically possible.

Kris, You are right, we've talked about this Patricia before.
I may have to reduce my hot-chocolate intake, as that may be the reason I'm losing track more often than before.
So please forgive me.
Peter.

I still think a shortened spits or péniche would make a superb cruising home on the Thames. I did spot a couple on the way down today around Chelski. It used to be called Chelsea until the Russian privatisation thieves bought it all.
Anyway When I go up back next week I'll try and get pictures. Of the shortened euro barges.

I think the reason I remember it is because I'm the one who posted about it before.

I think the reason I remember it is because I'm the one who posted about it before. That surely makes remembering easier, but that shouldn't be an excuse for me to have forgotten about it.
