I suppose easy access to the roof means less likelihood of cluttering it up with junk and allows safe access to a roof garden which would be very nice to have I admit.

I'm beginning to have my doubts about you.

Of course I have always had boats which already had cabins and did not allow much customising. If I was having a boat built I would be very tempted to copy ONX as it did look like a pretty satisfactory arrangement. One disadvantage though is nothing to hold onto when walking along the roof. Hmm. Swings and roundabouts really. Mine wasn't finished, I had planned to make quick folding railings on the deck, but I rarely had to go on the roof before I was tied up, as I used to do everything right next to my wheelhouse doors, where I had made high bollards for which I didn't have to bend down.
Going through the locks, I rarley used anything more then just these bollards, only when tying up for a longer time, I would add some other lines, fixed on the there again high bollard I made at the bow, and the strong low one in the edge in the middle of the roof.
There still a little glimps of my 250 cc Honda scooter to see on the front deck, for which I had an easy dismantlable manual crane.

BTW the stern of DB (replica) Elizabeth does look a lot like the gorgeous stern of my former tanker barge too Peter.

There is a Dutch motorboat with a very similar stern to that on the Thames normally around Walton. I had wondered if it was a Bakdekker. Its nicely laid out for leisure - less practical to live on but ok for one I expect.
I'll try to get a picture of it on Monday if I go that way. Got a trip through the pool of London tomorrow afternoon on the yot to survive first. Sunday afternoon should be busy !! Splash splash

Oak on oak sounds interesting.
Looks nice. It's a wooden boat.
A good looking boat with some quality equipment.
It's made of wood.
I think teak would be better.
Nice boat though.

So I put two and two together assuming the word "hull" meant the planking and got 4 It does say later in the description that the remaining carvel planking is iroko so I think you are correct.

This floating object has very little to do with a Dutch barge, but there is something Dutch about it anyway, which is the DAF engine.
You won't see me standing in the queue of potential buyers .
Peter.
