If you're looking for a barge that can cross the Channel, is pretty and that you could possibly even make some money with by offering craning services, look at this one of which you can see several more photos if you click at the top Exterieur and interieur markings. fikkers.nl/schepen/luxe-motorschepen/2524-ever-annemarie-hamburg/Peter.

I'm still considering the Spitz - further research into transport needed, she may actually be too big as I'd have to bring her further up the beach onto the rocks! The one I'm off to look at is more like 80' which maybe a good compromise, not very beamy though, it's the oil barge in Zaandam, I'll try to find the link.I suppose that you haven't found the link yet.
One thing you shouldn't forget is that with a tankerbarge before you can start working on it, like cutting the separations out of the tanks etc. the barge has to be degassed first, if not it may be the last thing you've ever started in your life.
Here's one photo of a bit of cutting on a tankerbarge I had

From when "Annemarie" was built in 1914 until 1965 she was named "HERMINE", if you have no bad memories to an ex missus with that name, you could rename it again.
The tanker is looking very good, it will be a noisy boat with the aircooled Deutz V-8, but apart from that and really lots of cutting with a blow torch, it's a dirt cheap and probably good boat.
Tankerbarges normally have far more serious hull inspections, and nowadays must be double skinned (exeptions are still possible), which may be the reason for the sale.
Probably worth having a look at I reckon, looking cost nothing, if you don't count your travel expenses, and will give you a much better idea than a pile of photographs.
But don't think to lightly about de degassing and all the cutting that's required before you can start thinking about the conversion.
Peter.

pps. Degassing had occured to me - is it difficult/expensive? The small tanker I did myself, dirty and hard work that I couldn't do anymore now .
More tha 30 years ago I had my 38 m tanker officially degassed with the certificat to prove it, as I was going to use that as the mooring pontoon for my passenger barge, and to be allowed to moor in town, I needed the certificat before I could get electricity and water installed.
They came with 3 man and a steam clean installation with special ecological stuff, and if I remember well that cost me about 10.000FFrs, which was about £ 1000 at the time.
But this was more than 30 years ago, there maybe cheaper possibilities now, or more likely more expensive ones.
Peter.

Peter.
ps forgotten to say, there are lots of boatyards with slipways and drydocks in and around Zaandam, so it wouldn't be too difficult to check what the barge condition is like under water, which is the most expensive and the hardest job to do at a later stage.
Only thing is, if there's any welding needed on the bottom, they'll have to get the degassing done before to avoid the fire risk.

I wonder what happened to the fallen over "Superyacht" at Burnham on Crouch. Did it get scrapped or is someone going to sort it out.
Lys Helig was its name (apparently but I think its a different boat).

There is/was one a bit like that at Poplar dock not sure if its the same one or not. (Eta no it is a different one) It says London on the ad but I think that one might be on the Mudway as I recall it being advertised as a houseboat possibly by Premier Houseboats. I thought it was an American tug but they say Dutch. Would be interesting to know what power unit they took out of it. Eta the American one is in fact another much larger boat - for sale here www.premierhouseboats.co.uk/tug-boats
