Colvic made excellent hull/deck mouldings. I have in my fleet a little Colvic 20 which is the smaller version. That one looks like a Northener which is 26ft. Really nice little boats which are just as happy in Henley on Thames as going under Tower Bridge. I have yet to take mine to sea but I believe they are very stable. Certainly seems OK on the Thames in central London and its fairly rough there.
Definitely a good project

My boating wants are changing back to sea use for inshore fishing and weekending etc down North Wales. I would want a min 26 if not bigger around 30 foot. Thre are a few similar boats about to choose from. I am just tormenting myself really looking around as need to finish the one have yet. How is your doing i remember you getting it, done much to it ?

And put about 160 hours on the engine since I bought it. That was mostly 15 hour day trips between London and Oxford on the Thames. Its still a bit scruffy but it does what its meant to do which is go along reliably with me steering it

Oh the Nelson 34, yes i must admit that would t been a good one to faff about with. I found one for £5k a while ago, wasnt bad either, but yes aserious project again, but it floated, or was floating lol And T, i have no idea but she knows how fidgety and grumpy i get when i have nothing to do. I did start to read it buti near fell asleep. I guess they are just covering there backs to time wasters so no come back and it is shifted. But yes seems a bit OTT.
I would like to go and just look around it to see what it is really like but they seem cautious about folk looking on board it.

They also say you aren't allowed to scrap it on their premises. It really looks like some sort of hazardous material problem but other than asbestos I can't see what it would be and the dangerous type of asbestos has been unavailable for quite a long time anyway.
Very odd. If it was scrap surely the yard would scrap it rather than sell it for a pound...

Scottish MFVs are lovely. I remember a beautiful one about 60ft long with the Gardner and owner had done a lot of work on it. Really nice boat. That was in about 1990 on the non tidal Thames so fresh water. Within 5 years it was broken up and put in a floating skip barge. Due mainly to owner neglecting it for a year or two and not living on it. This changed my feeling about these boats. Yes they are nice but you would have to be very committed to it. At the end of the day it is a work boat with a limited lifespan. Not easily repaired like a steel boat.

Theer could be alot of hassle to scrap a boat, would need to be dry docked for a strat and maybe they dont want the hassle or the mess for them to do it. Who knows hey.

Maybe a 1990 wooden boat wasnt built as good as 1960`s, i am looking into wooden boats every chance i get and it is very conflicting about the upkeep. Main is best to get a good one to start with unless you are loaded then its a lot less costly to maintain. I may never get one but good to dream hey.
