The Nelson looks like a really nice boat. I didn't know they were thorneycroft designed boats... The one behind looks quite interesting as well ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) there are lots of interesting looking boats tucked away in odd little boatyards round the coast ..... in the same yard as that Nelson there was a double diagonal admiralty harbour launch .... about the same size ...... I thought Wow !!! what a fantastic project, then then walked round the other side and thought Jeez what a shame. One side looked in good nick but the other was bulging out of shape with several of the outer layer planks splitting away completely. Shame but only a true lunatic would take that one on.

I had a similar experience at cookham lock a couple of months ago. A lovely 14ft clinker inboard launch on a trailer. I asked the lock keeper about it he said he was waiting for someone to take it away.
Looked OK on the visible side. Next time I went through I had a proper look. Completely screwed on the other side planks had come away all over the place.
Came through cookham this morning and it had been removed from the trailer so I guess he's going to burn it.
No engine but some useable hardware maybe I will be able to pick through the ashes...

I think for boaty boats to play with grp hull is the way to go.
Obviously a lot of grief from canal boat owners about splitters and if does depend where you use it but if its relatively open waterways not narrow canals GRP is pretty difficult to beat.

Istill ont know what to get next either Creighton 32 wooden or a flybrdige type cruiser. If i see sense it will atleast be a GRP.
