I have always loved the incongruity of a massive old diesel or semi diesel with just enough hull wrapped round it so that it would float

Industry narrow boats on the shroppie did at least one Opduwer, possibly more than one. I think that's one of their ones.

I LOVE Opduwers !!! there was a pair of them came over and did quite a tour on UK canals about 5 (?) years ago There were three of them. I had a chat with them in Limehouse marina at the end of their tour. One was a modern copy, there was a real one and the other was a large steel dinghy which had a cabin added. Lovely little craft they were off across the River to get lifted at South dock for road transport back to the Netherlands . In another life I think I would have a house and one of those for playing with.

Sell the big boat first. It would be just the ticket if you also had an unpowered barge.
ETA cor the paint went flat!

Pictures on the facebook page indicate that it is fitted for kipping in rather than the cabin being an engine room. Which invites the question "what engine does it have?" Maybe it's a two pot Kubota under the boards? Sort of defeats the object although one of these would be quite nice made electric the whole idea is as JohnV said earlier to wrap a hull around as big an engine as possible and ensure the thing floats. Modern interpretation perhaps.

Could cruise to the pub, get pissed, pass out on the boat, cruise home next day sticking of beer.
My kind of living.
