I don’t think lead is used in fusion reactors? And not much waste, what waste there is isn’t very “hot”. Yes they are a bit big, but then so was a computer when they were first invented. Size of a large room. But now there is massively more computing power in a smartphone chip a few mm across. I’ll wait for the pocket sized version.

To be fair the Lignite Union briquettes are pretty good too. no cheaper than smoke less fuels but one thing is that the briquettes are formed by pressure and don't use shit loads of binder which doesn't burn. Result is much more pleasant ash output. It is actually ash rather than just dust and for this reason it is a more pleasant product to handle.

On balance I will prefer the lignite. Mole Valley Farmers (farming Co-op) are doing it for £310 for half a tonne delivered (excluding central London) which isn't too bad. 62p a kilo.
I have been buying it at 80p a kilo 5 bags at a time because central London delivery is extra.


It is actually really good shit. German so one could go on about the war but we lost that yars ago so perhaps time to move on?


Lower energy density than smokeless briquettes but it does chuck out the heat. Also stays in overnight remarkably nicely.
