Discussions at Board level have been had and the decision has been made to reduce licensing costs for CRT licence holders proportionally according to how positive they are about the Board on internet forums.
It is possible there will be punitive fines for those who continue the negativity but this is going to be out for consultation in June when everyone is feeling a lot better about The Weather.
You heard it here first.
Good opportunity to save money.

Okay I’ll try again, they’ve sold all the canalside property off. They are busily building posh flats on it. None of the new residents want boats moored near them. Also crt keep removing facilities that boaters need to live. Is that positive enough?

In fairness, CRT did remove "a certain person's" flea-infested, eyesore slum boat from the waterways so they can't be all bad.

Looks like I'm getting off CRT water for good within months. This is definitely a positive ! The local authority won’t pay £12,000 a year for your inner city mooring then?

On the other hand as Universal Credit is actually paid by the DWP and has nothing to do with local authorities the payments can continue if I want them to. Getting off the cut is not related to this issue. Its a health concern which is going to cause the move.

Housing is paid as part of uc by the dwp now is it?

Okay I’ll have one more go at being positive about them. They short sightedly stopped prenventitive maintenance to make some short term savings. Unfortunately ten years later the network is falling to bits and because they only touch something when it breaks we are getting more large failures, resulting in parts of the network being shut for longer periods. Thinking about it this probably wasn’t shortsightedness. It seems like a cunning plan to run the navigation into the ground in a underhand way. Especially as the crumbling infrastructure nicely fits with we’ve got no money and a lot of maintenance costs narrative. Which they seem to be using as an excuse to bash boaters with.

With stories like this you are going to get into Tony's good books! Watch it. It is true though that if the CRT can claim impecuniosity they can do a lot of Bad Things to the canals.

I doubt that some how. You seem to be in his good books recently? Thinking about it, crt have just turned into a property development company with the inconvenience (from their perspective,) of having to keep the waterways navigable. Although they are doing their best to shed themselves of this responsibility. As a property development company they are playing the standard gentrification game. Price the local residents out and then redevelop. Kerching.

He gets allies where he can.
Someone must have done the land valuation. That is a lot of brown field land under them there canals. The great thing is that eco homes need to be half buried anyway. You don't sven need to fill it in. Just keep a drainage chanel on one side and build the housing on land that someone else has very considerately already excavated !

Looks like I'm getting off CRT water for good within months. This is definitely a positive ! So are you going to move to delightful Swanscombe? No. Its going to be the non tidal Thames. I've always rather liked the idea of having a moving boat and also a stationary boat on a pleasant country estate. The inner city slums don't do it for me and I feel bad about other people paying for something I don't want. An NFA future looks bright. Ten yars or more of living in the inner east london slums is enough to drive anyone to drink and worse.
