The first thing for today is to try and educate C&RT(Ltd) simpleton Bumford into actually LISTENING to what's being said to him, . . and in future to be considerably more circumspect in any dealings with psychopathic morons such as Shit-for-Brains Coventon. What part of "I have now been briefed by Lucy" and "As far as I/we are concerned, this is the end of the matter" did you not understand? It took quite a bit of persuading to get the C&RT(Ltd) idiot - Glyn Bumford, one of the National Surgical Support Customer's Boats Theft Manager Matthew Aymes's minions - to agree to contact Shit-for-Brains Coventon, and to make sure he told him who had raised the question over the validity of his boat insurance, . . but the results far exceed expectations, and couldn't be more gratifying.
What C&RT(Ltd) were actually told yesterday is precisely what I told Shit-for-Brains Coventon on here yesterday and the day before -- that going from what he has posted, in multiple posts over a lengthy period -- that there is evidence that points to him having "no insurable interest" in the vessel he has completed and submitted a proposal for as the owner, ie. the vessel named on the insurance certificate, . . and that in consequence the cover on the vessel is almost certainly invalidated by the misleading proposal.
Being every bit the equals of Shit-for-Brains Coventon in the thinking department, however, the goons at C&RT(Ltd) weren't able to understand what I'd said either, . . and predictably, . . paraphrased and lost the meaning and sense of "no insurable interest" in whatever passes for minds in their everyday lives, . . into 'not insured and no insurance certificate'.
With their attention once again drawn back to Thunderboat, the delightful Ms Barry, and by association, Matthew Aymes, having joined the other occupants of the hole that was prepared for them yesterday by C&RT(Ltd)'s nominated joint 'Prats of the Week', Bum Glynford and Shit-for-Brains Coventon , . . this little episode could turn out very useful indeed.
The first thing for today is to try and educate C&RT(Ltd) simpleton Bumford into actually LISTENING to what's being said to him, . . and in future to be considerably more circumspect in any dealings with psychopathic morons such as Shit-for-Brains Coventon.

A transcript of the call would be amusing. “Hello, is that the corrupt and dishonest organisation known as canal river trust?” … Errr, sorry it’s a bad line but yes this is CRT”. … I’d like to report a despicable and moronic so-called boater for having no insurance. His name is shitforbrains coventon”. … “ Sorry, could you spell that please…” … “T H A T”. … I see, and do you have a boat name or licence number?” … “Yes a coffin boat known as the potato” … I see, well thank you for your call Mr errr…. ?” … “ The name is Dunkley, Tony Dunkley, the highly respected expert in matters of all things boating and especially insurance and boat recovery. Surely you must have heard of me?” … “Please bear with me Mr Dunkley whilst I check our records … Ah yes, I have found your customer record now.” Click Brrrrrrrrrrr.

Both ianali and Andrew are quite correct in their feelings of how to deal with the Dunkley issue. Any response is just throwing petrol on a fire. Doesn't really make any difference whether you respond or don't respond. I think Andrew is right that we are watching a sick old man descending into dementia.

It is quite an interesting situation. I imagine this will get more common over time as the internet is fairly new and everyone is ageing.
It got me idly wondering if people in care homes would be given unrestricted access to internet or if there would be monitoring and/or controls.

It's a sad situation ... a malign, antisocial 'Don Quixote' type figure wandering the forum looking for windmills to tilt at.
But best simply ignored ... I learned eventually.

Canalboat "Desiree" - Index No 73371 - Third Party Insurance
Tony Dunkley <tonydtrent@gmail.com> 1:51 PM (1 minute ago)
to Glyn.Bumford, Matthew, Tom, richard.parry
Mr Bumford,
Having had sight of your e-mail communication with V Coventon dated 21 June 2023 and timed at 1540 hrs, it is plain that you and Ms Barry have been foolish and naive enough to accept sight of an insurance certificate as proof that the proposal upon which the insurance cover is based is/was correctly completed and contained all the necessary relevant information.
A moment's thought on the part of anyone with even the most basic knowledge of the steps in the process of arranging insurance cover would expose the fundamental flaws in both your and Ms Barry's reasoning.
You and Ms Barry may regard Coventon's questionable assurances, and a certificate issued in good faith by a broker, as - quote - "the end of the matter" - but neither I nor others do, and are not prepared to let the matter rest on the outcome of the joint mis-directed, ill-considered and distinctly sloppy efforts made yesterday.
Regards, A.K Dunkley.

I find it a bit of a giggle.
A good antidote the the phone call I just had asking for my permission to forcibly detain my sister and medicate her against her will in a picu in Taunton!
I agreed, as always because she is ill.
