I’ve enjoyed watching Robbie’s latest adventures on the telly. He even managed to navigate the Trent with out a certain persons help, the audacity of the man. Although it was definitely a lesson in what the river is like in winter. I think his programs are good, they show a realistic side of life on the waterways. He’s still got a lot to answer for though, he’s definitely played a part in popularising living on a boat. I shall be having words when I see him next.

I met/encountered him on a canal a few years ago.
I know this television presentation is mostly very not true.
I know he does not really represent a realistic side of living on the water - because he doesn't.
Don't ask me how I know but ...

I moored up with him in Leeds one winter before he was famous. Of course there is artifice used in making a programme. But at least he hasn’t got a shiny boat.

My encounter was when he WAS very famous. He saw me working the lock and bobbed back down into his boat moored a few yards shy of the lock landing while I worked a deep lock single handed. Suddenly, then managed to pop up before I went to help the single hander following me to claim the lock, coffee in hand. He let both of us work him up the lock without even stepping off once, asked about the nearest shops but decided he wouldn't bother because he was on a mission to the railway station so he could leave the boat again to get back to his/his girlfriend's place in London. Definitely not living aboard then.

Definitely not living aboard then. As I say it’s a long time ago since I met him. Being on the Telly has been known to go to peoples heads. That definitely sounds a bit rude.
