Anyway.
I got a Breville mini slow cooker from the cherry tea shop for a fiver. Seems alright and has been tested.
Its a stainless steel thing with a ceramic bowl and a glass lid. Quite a nice item and apparently uses 120w.
Question:
What do I do with it?
Has anyone tried one of these?
I have acres of power due to large solar panels and great batteries.

Season your logs.
Recipe
Put log inside slow cooker Add seasoning of choice Turn slow cooker to full power Leave for 8 hours
When done you have a perfectly seasoned pre-warmed log to go on the fire.

Don’t tell Andrew to put his logs in the slow cooker. This will cause a horrible mess he already puts his logs in his fire.

I have a slow cooker ... son often uses it when he comes home and prepares food am then we don't have to think about what to cook I have actually used it but stuff I cook doesn't quite taste right.. not got his flare for cooking He does use lot of spices...

Not a recipe, but chop loads of veg and meat of choice (or more veg if not a carnivore) cover with water and add stock cube or seasoning of choice and leave ... for ages, the longer the better.
You'll know it's done when it tastes done.
You're welcome 😁

There are loads of recipes for slow cookery on the net. It's not all about stews.

I was given one but I never used it. Chief reason being that the time of year when I tend to eat stews, casseroles etc coincides with the time of year the stove is alight so it's just as easy, if not even easier, to just keep a cooking pot on top of that.

The shit would burn better pre dried too. Seriously, great for stews, cuts of meat, once did a whole chicken in ours, results are flavoursome and tender.

It's also an advantage that after 5 minutes work in the morning your evening meal will be ready for you. And only one pan to wash. Pan on the stove in winter (as Mr Stabby says) is a better way ... this time of year it's all salads and stuff (no pan to wash) Rog

I was given my slow cooker by another boater in the early days and if there's one thing I've discovered over the years it's that if another boater gives you something like that it's because he's looking for an easier option than taking it down to the CRT bins.

There is that ! Its just that I have an enormous surplus of electric on the country estate boat even after spending several hours a day on the floating electric beer drinking platform. Big solar and good batteries. I already use an induction hob and it is really good but this little slow cooker seemed interesting. Good point about stews being a winter thing. I've got the fire going this evening as it happens disposing of some of the excess hawthorn. Had another go with the killer chainsaw and it turns out it is fine with hard woods no issues at all cutting up some teak I found in the River. Hitting the ground or embedded hardware are the things to avoid I suspect.

A slow cooker on a boat was, in the past, about as useful as the often-mentioned teapot. But if one was set up for maximum use of lithium batts, it's not so crazy.

Shepherds Pie. Getting the potato right is a matter of good timing, although if you don't go mad with the gravy it works out ok. Also a good bit of parmesan on the top and grilled for a few minutes at the end works well if you can be bothered.
