Didn't think of that, although to be fair if you have the stove going in the winter then a spud in the ashpan is likely to be easier, but if your stove has a large top then a Dutch oven works very well. Petromax is a good brand. These things are also great for al fresco cookery.
I will try sc jacket spuds though.
ETA don't eat any spuds which have been cooked in Andrew's ashpan.

I hate jacket potatoes.
Always used to get burnt inside my mouth as the nerves there don't seem to work very well.

That's bit like saying you always spill drinks because the glass isn't sufficient for the quantity of liquid.

No it isn't. I've always had problems with burnt gums so there must be something wrong with the nerves.
Quite often after having proper oil fried chips I will have loads of skin falling off inside my mouth but no pain from the burning.
