Although the reportage has places a lot of emphasis on the degree to which management attempted to hush things up and were reluctant to instigate any sort of investigation. I would guess that part of it is about such things being almost unthinkable and, when you start making accusations, a legal minefield. Talking of which, here come the court actions. 'Let It Go' is unlikely to be a favourite song amongst the parents affected. I agree the idea may have been 'unthinkable' , but surely that would or should have promoted management to ENSURE a thorough forensic examination was instigated ... rather than would appear to have been their chosen response ... bury it. Rog I agree. Ms Allitt was stopped after 3 months. Part of it seems to have revolved around the perception of Letby as a nice girl. Dear sweet Lucy? Surely not etc. Hushing things up seems to be standard in medical circles.

Not just medical circles though.
It becomes a feature of virtually every story ... management seeking to hide, bury, avoid or misdirect any perceived threat, whereas in training managers are encouraged to be open and honest, and confront issues.
As I say it must just be a flaw ... human nature over rides all.

I'm sure you're right.
It's just really difficult to imagine the situation where a problem is brought to a manager's attention and he or she's instant response is to ignore and actively seek to hide the suggestion.
To have the problem thoroughly investigated at that point doesn't damage 'self interest' ... I would suggest it actually enhances it.
But we're all wise after the events I realise.

Apparently GMP are now actively investigating over 4000 children Letby has been in close contact with. I think there'll be a whole lot more to come from this and quite probably an appeal by Letby herself.π

I see the hospital board members are making it clear that they were 'mislead' by the management regime.
A serious game of pass the buck going on in anticipation of further investigations.

Its a mad story.
Everyone digging around to find out what happened to this person in their life. Only thing which turned up was being an only child.
Something bad must have happened. I don't believe people are born like that it must be nurture which causes it.
Seriously disturbing shit there.
When I was doing online dating interviewing potential reproductive units I did meet up with a woman who worked in a neo natal unit. She described the situation and how small some of the babies were. It was quite shocking. She was rather shocked when I bluntly suggested 'would it not be better to allow them to die because they are probably going to have terrible disabilities or general health problems in life which you would not wish on anyone' she thought I was a terrible cunt.
Is life really that valuable?
Can't really say that !!
Its a bit like keeping terribly old people alive just with medication. They can't do anything and there is no chance of improvement yet keeping them alive is the main aim.
Weird humans.

It's a view the Nazi guys were quite keen on so yes, you are most likely a cunt, but maybe we can blame it on being on that funky spectrum and therefore you are a malfunctioning cunt. Which seems a fair explanation.
As an aside, that Doctor Death bloke from Hyde was thought to have had a God complex which was unhappy it couldn't 'fix' all those complaining oldies who just kept on coming back and so the logical next-step was to kill them, thus solving the problem. Apparently also handy in ensuring a good supply of Pethedine, which was his happy juice of choice.
You should meet some of these people. To say they have no chance of improvement is incredibly arrogant. I continue to be amazed by the extent to which my niece, who was born with severe cognitive difficulties, has grown and matured into adult life, but since you have no experience of such things we can dump you in the 'terminally ignorant' camp. In an offhand and dismissive way, obvs.
So there we have it. Andrew Crosby - arrogant, defective and terminally ignorant cunt. Does that sufficiently acknowledge the autism?
Also... heeee-eeee's wacky!

It's like some kind of horror novel.
Huge sympathy for the parents and families of the babies involved ; the survivors damaged and needing constant medical care; the parents being unable to trust anyone ; an appallingly wicked episode.
Letby's own family must be in total shock ... imagine your child or sibling being responsible for such wickedness.

Apparently her mother cannot accept it. Also someone billed as 'Lucy's Best Friend' went on record saying that the only way she would believe it is if she heard a confession from Letby's own mouth.
