No doubt people are the common denominator in such crashes.

Lucy Letby found guilty. Details now being reported. A pretty horrific case. Rog She'll get a whole life tariff. Not much point fighting Rose West for the bed nearest the door.

It can't be that difficult. I do countless hours in the floating electric beer drinking platform and never hit other boats. They are all at the same altitude as me. It really must be incredible incompetence to hit another plane while flying. You are really looking at a massive lack of attention there and a possible entry for the Darwin awards.
They may have been flying through cloud. They weren’t flying through cloud, they were circling in the same thermal. Turns out the chap who died was the chairman of the Scottish club just north of Edinburgh. I didn’t know him well, but I’d met him a few times and he seemed a really nice and down to earth guy, despite being extremely rich - he has a £150k glider in the Uk (had, it’s now broken) and another of similar cost in New Zealand where he used to go for the UK winter. Still, no use having all that wealth if you are dead.

Horrific accounts now emerging from the Lucy Letby trial, and the apparent Management cover-up or perhaps 'arse-saving' whitewash .
Of course, everybody is wise after the events ... always the way.
But the fact that leaps out at me is, that since Letby was suspended seven years ago, there has only been one death in the unit.
Horrific.

It is of course a bit circumstantial. But what are the odds? Quite long, I should think. The jury must have had a hell of a time.
Ages ago I watched a documentary about Beverley Allitt, she was briefly interviewed for the programme at the end. Seemingly absolutely no remorse. I expect Lucy will be the same. Remorse isn't going to be a mitigating factor in the sentence handed down.
De Nile is a very long river.

Rog Chap on the morning news was talking about “reputation protection” for the organisation and themselves as the key driver for management sweeping it under the carpet. Seems a recurring concept for idiot managers who have only ever been in administration/management, never on the shop floor. incredibly short sighted. But of course these idiots won’t be held financially accountable for their cover ups.

Why does management so often, in many and varied industries, always first seek to protect itself ?
Every management course and IAM qualification I have been involved with has always promoted openess and honesty, and yet it seems once in management positions people become inward looking and protective.
I assume it is simply a flaw in human nature.

I'm sure that will be looked at, although it's almost impossible to get a conviction. We must also try and remember who has been convicted and was responsible for these acts ... management responsibility is very far back from that don't you think ? Rog

That Medical Director has got some real questions to answer, forcing the doctors who raise concerns to apologise to what turned out to be a serial baby killer, you couldn't make it up!

Although the reportage has places a lot of emphasis on the degree to which management attempted to hush things up and were reluctant to instigate any sort of investigation.
I would guess that part of it is about such things being almost unthinkable and, when you start making accusations, a legal minefield.
Talking of which, here come the court actions. 'Let It Go' is unlikely to be a favourite song amongst the parents affected.

Makes you feel sick reading it doesn't it ... unbelievable ! The consultant who blew the whistle and refused to apologise and go to mediation, ought to get a medal (Dr Stephen Breary) If I read a novel with that story line I'd think it too far fetched ... horrific.
