When’s a drydock not a drydock? The answer is when the gates leak like a sieve. I went into the drydock on Monday that id booked for a month, to finish off the over plating I started last year. After 24hrs in the dock there was still 6-8 inches of water in the drain end. The gates leaking faster than it can drain. Anyway needless to say, impossible to do any plating even if I had put pallets down. So I’m out of the dock again, it’s cost me £200 to find out their dock gates are fucked. I’ve booked somewhere else to do the work, but that isn’t until next march, so another delay. I wouldn’t have the cheek to keep hiring out a dock in that condition. Some boatyards really do take the piss.

Perhaps you should rip out the boatyard owner's heart and eat it, still beating, in front of him?

Did they not have buckets of coal ash ? They where trying to seal it with blue tarps. But to be honest ash and sawdust wouldn’t have done much. The two young lads where alright, but the other yard hand was/is a right Twat and wasn’t open to any suggestions. To be honest he was another reason to get out of there. He was mouthing off in front of the ceo of a big steel company who had come to say hello to me. (I’ve bought all the steel I’ve used on the boat from him and we’ve had a laugh on the phone so he thought he’d come and have a look.) The owner tried to tell me it’s just started and normally it’s alright. There’s piles of mud everywhere in it with plants growing out of it. I just wouldn’t feel safe using power tools in it, even if I had built a platform.

Electrocuting yourself would not be fun. Maybe visit the next dock ahead of time to scope it out.

I certainly wouldn't be paying any £200. If it's supposed to be a dry dock, there's a clue there in the name.

If I hadn’t already given him cash, he definitely wouldn’t have got any. It’s the delay yet again that is annoying. I’d like to get the steel work done on the boat, so I can get the interior sorted. Hey ho.

I can’t really be arsed for £200 it costs £35 for the claim. His answer would be other boats are using it with no trouble. As for the welding side of it, he’d just have to say I didn’t ask to do that as he doesn’t allow it or some shit and that would be it. He could claim it had cost him £200 In labour to get me in and out. Sometimes you just have to cut your loses and move on. Karma is good at biting twats like that on the ass.

That's crap kris , sorry. But if he takes £200 off everybody who books in only to find excessive water in there, what incentive is there for him to fix it. Rog

Rog He’s not the kind to fix it, he’s only bought it this last year apparently and is just rinsing the place. The onus was on me to check the facilities before booking really. But as I say last time I saw the dock it was okay, I mean they all leak to some extent but this was like swimming.
