Interesting development in the news.
I wonder if it's a computer glitch or as a result of interference ?
Intriguing.

Most likely the Russians, but on the other hand I recently signed up to a NATS system that allows me to publish NOTAMS relating to high flying gliders. The system is something out of the ark, so clunky and looks like it's written by a child. I had to make 2 calls to the support team just to get logged in. The user name they sent by post, and the password they sent by email, didn't work together. When I clicked the "forgotten password" button to reset it, and typed in the email address to which they had sent the password, the system said "this email address is not known on the system". Utterly crap.

Not a 'cyber attack' then ... fixed although still causing significant disruption.

Whatever caused the glitch it appears to be creating massive disruption.

loads of planes coming out of London City Airport today. It all seemed quite frenetic.
The older girl child is a bit of a plane spotter and keeps her eye on the sky.

It must be an absolute nightmare getting crews back to normal (let alone airplanes). I used to work in a control for the railways and we could just transfer staff by taxi to ensure the next day started back as normal. Can't exactly use that method if the crew is in London and you need them in Alicante.

I suppose its better than being in a private jet and knowing for quite a long time you are going to die when the hostess finds a box of wine with a bomb in it.
What do you do? Alter the altitude to make sure it doesn't go orf if it is a pressure switch? Throw it out the window at 25000 feet? Panic? Timer. Bang. Wing gone. Big fire burny burny barbecue bye bye.
Anyway this is what I learned from our MI6 briefing today.

That scenario is quite easy to avoid - don't march on Moscow.

lt is a little different to LCY!
Interesting climb out.
We have barbecued distant family members from plane crashes so quite a lot of embedded trauma there.
Of course I got the USD 3.5 million from the Nigerians because of a plane crash so I suppose I can't really moan. It was delivered in gold and jesus h christ on a jesus h bike its heavy !

So a cheeseeater inputs a garbled flight plan and the whole system shuts down! Even simple forms on the net tell us when we've inputted the wrong info and shout at us. Son and partner are in Majorca at the mo, due back at the end of the week. They also got hit by the Icelandic volcano ash, they'd gone on a long weekend to Granada, we looked after the kids, I ended up doing the school run again for a week.
