Yep, it's a company which has been allowed charitable status. That's a win win as the Americans say.

I have no problem with them being a company, and making money, including from property.
The big measure of performance is, what do they do with their profits.
I would like to see more spent on infrastructure, and if that means less on legal bills, so be it.

As has been pointed out Crt are not alone in being a company and a charity. But it doesn't stop it being a little bit underhand. They don't advertise the fact they are a company. Crt has more people getting paid more than £100,000 than any other "charity"

I understand that Alan, but thanks for clarifying. So basicly when Crt was formed the government gave a private bussiness lots of public property.

I understand that Alan, but thanks for clarifying. So basicly when Crt was formed the government gave a private bussiness lots of public property. The government transferred both BW's operational assets (the 2,000 miles of waterways, locks, bridges, aqueducts etc and plant, buildings etc needed to maintain them) and £460m of BW's non-operational assets (mainly property) to CaRT. There are restrictions placed on how the non-operational assets are used, however, and a 'protector' appointed to safeguard them.
