I see the Macclesfield is closed again as another culvert has collapsed just above Hall Green.
Anyone in that area ?
A mate is heading into Heritage to leave his boat and visit family over Christmas ... fortunately he's the right side of the stoppage so his plans won't be adversely affected.
Hopefully it won't be a major closure.

Any news from your "man on the Macc" , dogless? I know we're expecting an official update on the 2nd but I'm heading for another junction in the next few days so just wondering which way to turn...

He's still at his daughters so not onboard.
I understand the closure is still on but that there'll be an update from C&RT on Tuesday as you said.
I would guess a couple more weeks minimum, but we shall see.

I can make "Heartbreak Hill" last a couple of weeks in this weather but would hate to get to the Macc and, if it's still closed, be faced with the choice of Harecastle or coming back down all the locks....!

They opened the canal for one day (21st ?) and said the major repair was completed, but additional minor works were needed.
If this was accurate, you'd have to hope the canal would be open soon, certainly before the end of January π€
Be careful in these winds.

As you've probably seen metanoia , the update is ... there will be a further update on the 10th and the canal meanwhile remains closed. Rog

Next update on 31 January and remaining closed until then.
That's my guess of 'open by end of the month' blown away ... who knows now.

Hope for the best. Plan for the worst. Rog I donβt know with this shower the best you can hope for is that it will get done. Putting a time scale on it seems to be asking for too much.

I wonder if , whilst Todbrooke has no water, it suits C&RT water management to reduce access to the Macc.
Or perhaps it is simply a bigger job than initially thought.

Rog Thereβs definately something going on with water levels on the Macc and the peak forest. The macc in particular has been closed more than itβs open for quite a while now( not just this winter. ) Makes me wonder if they are getting boaters used to the idea, readying them for its closer to boats completely? Anyway time will tell.
