Once again Jim you wrongly make an issue party political and have it blow up in your face. Whilst on the ‘why didn’t HMG’ question Jim … care to explain this snippet… ‘Blair was aware Horizon was a disaster that didn’t work. He was also told in no uncertain terms (in a message from a Fujitsu Big Boss carried to him by the British Ambassador to Japan) that if the UK govt biffed Horizon, it would cost hundreds of jobs, and do huge untold reputational damage to the government and to Britain’s standing in Europe.‘ Ah, the old 2 wrongs make a right gambit. Blair was wrong on many things. Why don't you admit your lot have faults, many many faults, the voters are sick to the back teeth of them. All this wittering about why people might vote labour is just pissing in the wind, tories are on their way out, your legs are wet.

Daily express is well known for posting lies and making mountains out of molehills. Even if he did know about the prosecution, where is the proof that he knew the post office was out of order, this didn't comer to light till a few years later, Hmmmm typical lefty ‘doesn't fit my narrative so ignore it’ ...it wasnt us, we werent there, we didnt do it!🙄

With the exception of the sub postmasters, I don't think anyone comes out of this scandal well, including us the great British public. Journalists have been writing about this issue since 2009 (Computer magazine) and 2011 (Private Eye) and yet it's taken a TV programme to light a fire under us all. It also destroys any semblance of trust that remains in our government (either colour) and its agencies. It is clear their prime concern is and always has been self preservation. Rog US all? I've been shouting at the radio for a good few years over it. Yes Jim ... everybody except you has been passive. Your shouting at the radio has obviously been a huge help. Rog

A shame and perhaps blinkered too ?
Wasn't there a Labour government from 1997 until 2010 then a Conservative alliance with the Liberals to 2015 before the Conservatives formed the government since.
All parties have questions to answer no doubt, but the priority has to be the victims for now.

It is amazing that it apparently needs new legislation to enact a blanket appeal for the victims. I wonder how many of the lawyers in the Commons and the Lords will resist such action , bemoaning the loss of potential income from their costly services that has swallowed up the majority of compensation that has already been paid.

My grandfather had a CBE awarded after WW2. Factories were producing wood products like radio boxes and he was active in bomb disposal.
All round 'good guy' got taken out in fiery plane crash when he was 64 before anyone noticed he had ripped off the pension fund from his rather large business and shoveled the money in the direction of his descendents.
All the best people get CBE !

The CBE awarded to the terrible Vennels thing should really be re awarded to someone who deserves it. Maybe there could be some nominations. People who help others etc.

It is really a side show emphasising the discredit and contempt the honours system generally attracts these days.
She couldn't even do the 'right thing' without external pressure.
But the convictions and meaningful compensation MUST be the priority and speedily don't you think ?
Rog
ETA Angela van den Bogerd who was much more 'hands on' throughout the scandal and was heavily criticised by the judge in court as having "sought to mislead him" is one of many who should be investigated in due course.

Definitely.
What happened is very very shitty and something needs to happen.
It is a shame if this ends up being a cynical ploy by the current government to collect votes but I am quite sure that will be a driver.
Its horrible what happened. Stuff of nightmares. A geyser on Canalworld ran a post office and has posted on the thread that because he was careful he noticed the discrepancies with the Horizon software. Fujitsu were able to access remotely and correct errors.
Its bad shit this is.
