This length of time taken to compensate victims of government agencies negligence isn’t unusual. The victims and families of the contaminated blood scandal from the 80’s are still waiting for their compensation from the goverment. Even though they have won in the courts and been awarded money. Lots of them are dying off. But then itv haven’t made a documentary about it, yet? Yes it is pretty piss poor that nothing much happens until there is a non-documentary TV programme about it. And even then, I expect they are waiting and hoping for the hoohaa to die down so the can relocate it to the bottom of the pile again.

utopia and eutopia? Eutopia is a realistic concept of a good place or something that is attainable. The word utopia, on the other hand, is a place that does not exist. The idea is that in a so-called perfect world, people must put aside their personal interests for the good of the larger group.

The damage I could do scares me.

It's amazing that this affair has been dragging on for decades but only now that ITV have made a drama about it that public opinion has been so inflamed that over a million signatures have been added to the campaign to strip Paula Vennels of her CBE and compensate the victims of this injustice... perhaps they should make a dramadoc about Tony Dunkley's boat next. I could see Brad Pitt or George Clooney in the lead role.

With the exception of the sub postmasters, I don't think anyone comes out of this scandal well, including us the great British public.
Journalists have been writing about this issue since 2009 (Computer magazine) and 2011 (Private Eye) and yet it's taken a TV programme to light a fire under us all.
It also destroys any semblance of trust that remains in our government (either colour) and its agencies.
It is clear their prime concern is and always has been self preservation.

It's the element of refusing to even listen to their claims that's most alarming.
The blind acceptance by ministers that the Post Office is right because management say so, whilst refusing to even hear counter claims.
Yes sack them all 👍🏻

Daily express is well known for posting lies and making mountains out of molehills. Even if he did know about the prosecution, where is the proof that he knew the post office was out of order, this didn't comer to light till a few years later, when the facts were presented to the coalition government. Why didn't the coalition pick it up, because they trusted the PO, why has it not been dealt with since, you've had 13 years.

Once again Jim you wrongly make an issue party political and have it blow up in your face. Whilst on the ‘why didn’t HMG’ question Jim… care to explain this snippet… ‘Blair was aware Horizon was a disaster that didn’t work. He was also told in no uncertain terms (in a message from a Fujitsu Big Boss carried to him by the British Ambassador to Japan) that if the UK govt biffed Horizon, it would cost hundreds of jobs, and do huge untold reputational damage to the government and to Britain’s standing in Europe. The message subsequently came from Number 10 that Blair did not wish to can Horizon, therefore a way to make it work had to be found. Blair didn’t know it, but he had ordered his team to make the impossible happen. With disastrous consequences.’
