Crt have sent me a reminder about my boat insurance. It’s very nice of them to let me know, but it’s not due for renewal for another 4 weeks. Does everybody get these reminders?

I was told it was three weeks. Anyway the insurance company hasn’t sent a reminder yet. That’s when I usually renew my insurance. The text and the email where both worded quite threateningly. Anyway I’ll renew my insurance when I receive the reminder from my company.

As you say, for some reason they preempt your insurance company who always sends a reminder in plenty of time anyway.

I know it will all be automated, but still?

A bit like the THREE months' notice about your BSS expiry. Anyone would think they're mates of dogless 😁!!!

Better reminded than it's forgotten.

Also if the insurance is then not renewed the owner can't say they were not told.

I didn't get one, though I've just renewed my insurance. I feel left out now🥲.

Just checked my email archive and found this (Sent 03/08/2021) "Dear Mr Stabby, According to our records your current Insurance Certification expires on 30/08/2021. If you have already renewed your insurance policy with regard to your boat/s, or as soon as you have your new policy/expiry number in place, please logon to your online account at licensing.canalrivertrust.org.uk and update the details yourself under ‘My Boats’ or alternatively contact our customer service team with the new details on 0303 040 4040. Holding valid insurance is a boat licence requirement. If you are unable to supply a valid examination report with a licence application, you risk forfeiting the prompt payment discount. If you are no longer the owner of this boat then please either logon to your account and update your details at licensing.canalrivertrust.org.uk, download and complete a change of details form available at canalrivertrust.org.uk/enjoy-the-waterways/boating/licensing-your-boat/application-forms-fees-and-useful-downloads or contact us directly using the contact details below Boat licensing Team"

It doesn't cost anything to automate emails.
