The cc surcharge is a cynical money grab by crt. Its away of getting more money from the government through the back door via the housing benefit scheme. They will know what percentage of cc’ers claim the benefit.

The only way the CRT would know who is claiming would be if they logged the request by the Boat owner for proof of licence costs to send to the DwP.
The payment itself comes from the Boat owner's bank account not the DwP.
The widebean surcharge is a few hundred pounds a yar. Far less than council tax would be although if one has no money one can claim an allowance to cover CT.
I was paying a grand per annum for CT. Once I am away from the hellhole this will pay for one of the Boat licences in fact it covers the Thames based fleet.

It is a money grab but to be fair to all in tents and porpoises the CRT do need money.

Sob why don't those on benefit get and claim for a mooring? Then there's no problem.
