You don't re-register where your children live by mistake. If she did something wrong it will have been a calculated plan. A premeditated effort to defraud the public purse.
All the excuses have been heard. 'She wasn't an m.p. at the time'. 'It wasn't much money'. 'She's a northern girl'. 'Members of the opposition shouldn't be held to the same standards as ministers' None of which mitigate a deliberate effort to evade capital gains tax.

Getting together for drinks, aided and abetted by the prime minister, with a host of published evidence, is a different issue to inadvertently getting something wrong despite best efforts and seeking advice. It remains to be seen what the police find. Until then she is innocent. 5 police officers on the case, how much will this trawl for minor misdeeds, if they are found, cost? Might be more productive for you to learn to post pics properly rather than wittering on here. Inadvertently getting your tax wrong is still a criminal offence. And of course we have no idea whether it was inadvertent in the sense of not realising the tax return was wrong, or inadvertent in the sense that she was inadvertently caught out. She deserves what she gets because she lost me when she referred to many of her fellow MPs as "scum". It is one thing to disagree with policy, but it is not acceptable to refer to people with different policital opinions as "scum".

It would be a great surprise to me if someone inadvertently changed the address on the birth certificates of their children.

No surprise that you raise the non issue. "The certificate cannot be corrected to show new information if your circumstances change after the birth is registered. "

I see one of the very few reasonable, caring, thinking tories has a different view, published in the Times: Angela Rayner’s only ‘crime’ is being an uppity lass. Matthew Parris Tuesday April 16 2024, 9.00pm, The Times The hounding of Angela Rayner is outrageous: brutal, snobbish and completely out of proportion to any mistake she may (or may not) have made. The sums are tiny and the issue itself — the deeming of a property as a main residence for capital gains tax purposes — has always been a matter of public confusion. I for one have discovered from the recent press reports that my own understanding was pretty cloudy. As for the issue of the electoral register, the underlying purpose of the law here is to prevent voter fraud, and nobody is accusing Rayner of that. Every now and again we (tories) do just seem to lose our heads. I don't remember you being sooo concerned about Zahawi, Mone or your other venal mates Clinton Cool . If you are setting yourself up as a pillar of the community it behoves you to abide by the laws and rules. Ignorance of the law is no defence.. There will be many people who can be consulted who will know the rules, you, as an MP should seek out this information and abide by it. Just because it is in your view a small amount does not mean this should not be paid. There are many of her constituents who no doubt have been taken to task for small amounts of unpaid tax.

I agree with you. Capital gains and houses is complicated, she caught advice on whether tax was due or not. That doesn't detract from what Matthew Parris said about the behaviour of his fellow Tories. Losers clutching at straws a distraction from their own troubles. Many Tory MPs aren't even concerned about young people being able to smoke in the future. How many have shares in BAT?

Massive fan of Matthew Parris all of a sudden, I see. Is he not scum any longer? Other views, of course, are available, and equally valid.

It isn't 'causing trouble' to ask the police to investigate what appear to be criminal acts.

It isn't 'causing trouble' to ask the police to investigate what appear to be criminal acts. Of course it is, when the aim is to distract the electorate from the drunken misdeeds at the Tory party parties. What did the beergate investigation cost? The same scenario being repeated by the same man. Vexatious or what?

You need to give your head a wobble, how on earth did you extrapolate that from what I said. You are a prime candidate for education, not even re education.

You are a prime candidate for education, not even re education. Easy. You have a problem with Angela Rayner being investigated by the police when there's ample evidence that she's broken the law.

News just in, Angela is charged, a bloke from Barmouth provided the crucial evidence.
