I'm seriously addicted to this fruit. Juicy, sweet with a slight acidity it beats a ripe mango right out of sight. OK, breaking open the slightly mushy shell to get at the pearly white delights within is a bit messy and a tangerine sized fruit is probably 50% shell but, it's all worth it.
Unfortunately it doesn't travel well so there's zero chance of seeing this on the el cheapo shelf at Aldi.
Anyone else had the pleasure?

Our hosts in Singapore made a point of introducing us to a variety of tropical fruits including durian and mangosteen. They were delicious, durian is an aquired taste! I have seen mangosteen in Borough Market in London but I’m sure the taste will suffer during the transportation.

Yes had them plenty when I lived in Sarawak for a year, although it was 1982 - 83 so I barely remember the exact taste. Also rambutan of course. Never actually tried durian, always put off by the smell.

Unusual taste for a fruit, very difficult to describe. My best stab at it would lemon mixed with rose, pear and honey.
