Interesting NB with a wheel instead of a tiller, I imagine that took a bit of confabulating.
Maybe set up for outboard propulsion though.

I'm planning an inspection cruise down the River on the launch shortly so will try to get pictures. Loads of sunk things. Of course it has been an unusually wet winter so water gets in. And it is raining.

Yep. In some ways a cool arrangement if so, lots of space under the deck for ting and I like the lack of a elfin guard rail, easy to load a motorvehicularbicycle. PITA that outboards are so nickable though. Also looks easy enough to refloat what with the gunwales above water n'all.

Narrow Boats with outboards tend to look a bit pikey and slummy..
Not exactly shabby genteel is it.

Narrow Boats with outboards tend to look a bit pikey and slummy.. Not exactly shabby genteel is it. Also I imagine exspensive to go any distance. I remember once talking to a boater on a 26-27ft boat with an outboard. He was amazed when he asked me how much it cost me to move my boat a certain distance. It cost him three times as much in petrol to travel the same distance. So I imagine on a heavy displacement boat an outboard would be really thirsty.

Narrowboats with outboards are a joy to steer, especially in reverse. Need a high thrust prop though. Modern ones aren't that thirsty either.

Aerodynamic roof boxes in a silver finish can help.

The other problem with outboards is that you rarely see petrol being sold by the canal. But the advent of Google maps at least shows you where the nearest petrol station is.
