Never mind George Orwell what about Aldous Huxley?
He was moaning about TV celebs being president and technology advancing fast which was likely to cause devices to be available which could be used to manipulate people.
Trump, Zelensky and the iphones.
Clairvoyant that one.
I don't think people realise how powerful the military experiments in Russia and Palestine are.
The 'news' is full of shit which matters not a jot but is very useful for controlling herds.

It can’t be anymore depressing than watching the news at the moment. The only light relief is Donald trump is in court. Are you kidding? The news hasn't been so exciting for ages. The Trump trial: so fucking what. It won't stop him from running for prez, or being prez if he loses. Most likely it'll be chucked out on a technicality or if not that then the case will fail because his lawyers will argue he can't get a fair trial. Also it could be still running after the election in which case, assuming Trump wins, and I'm betting he will, then he'll just pardon himself. The whole thing is a farce. I’m hoping they put him in jail, but he wins the election anyway so we have the USA run by a criminal who is incarcerated. Poetic justice or something.

Rather than being clairvoyant, the architects of society have said he’s got some good ideas, let’s make them happen.? So rather than prophesying the future he actually helped create it?

Yes, of course. They're experiments. Oh dear lord.
What you fail to grasp about Huxley is that, despite all the experiments with hallucinogenic drugs and a novel which turned out a nice little earner, is that he was an actual toff and, like probably all of his peers, was fearfull of the rise of the bloody awful working class and deeply lamented the collapse of the often-quoted 'ancien regime'. In fact the regret that you just can't get the staff these days is the factor that colours nearly every scrap of literature of the period; even the structure of the prose itself, of which Aldous was clearly a fan.
Hint: that isn't why it's called 'structuralism'.
In this 'Brave New World' is virtually the same novel as 'The Lord of the Rings'; the orcs weren't born, they were manufactured. As the author himself comments, "...in mockery of the elves...". Hmm...
Do you recall one of the characters in BNW is called Henry Ford? Of course you don't. You've never read it.

Reading books is what children do.

Huxley was an Eton toff. Everyone knows this. It is important not to write off people who have been to Eton. I know most of them are terrible scum but there will be some who have benefited from the different education and become wise.
At the end of the day Huxley did foresee exactly what happened. It might be because it was incredibly obvious to anyone in a position to think or he could have been an 'influencer'.
If he was an 'influencer' which seems fairly likely given how well the books sold then perhaps he understood how influencing works. He might have been quite concerned as to how technology would progress and we would end up with the real deal proper scum running people and those people would be happy doing things they didn't want to be doing.
Its easy to cast it aside and say it was a toff moaning about the plebs getting some power but its a lot more serious than that.

It’s not writing him off because of his background, but weighing up his biases and taking them into account. I thoroughly enjoyed brave new world. Now what was his other book called.🙃 Anyway you’ve added to your post since I quoted you. But my reply remains the same.

I haven't read any books for 30 yars. Not my thing really. We did David Copperfield at school I got about a third of the way through then fell asleep.
Parents had a book shop. Books = boring.

I would suggest that what the author believes to have been written may not be what actually is.

Films too. With the odd exception = boring. Most especially anything from Hollywood. Impossibly good looking star with unnaturally white teeth shoots hundreds of people whilst miraculously avoiding thousands of bullets. Shags co-star who also has unnaturally white teeth. The next Hollywood blockbuster? Copy and paste.

Indeed I have also seen very few films.
Quite like Clint Eastwood westerns.

There’s so much more to the world of cinema than Hollywood blockbusters. But if you lack the imagination to find it then that is your problem.
