Thought it may be good to have at least one positive and upbeat thread ... a good news thread ππ»
To kick things off, Jane's sister has been discharged after five years of breast cancer treatment π₯³π₯³

Just to clarify ... it doesn't have to be major news.
Today I had 'burnt basque cheesecake' for the first time (Navigation, Stoke Breune).
It was rich and delicious and when I'm next at home I intend making it.
Expensive with 800g of cream cheese and four eggs, but worth it I think.
It was served with a cherry sauce and utterly delicious.
Not the same scale of good news as Jane's sister obviously, but still positive which is what I was hoping for.
Over to you π€

Iβve been waiting for a new rudder for my glider that was damaged in Storm Gerrit (27/12/23). After much frustrating waiting it was due to arrive at the UK agent today but he said he was going to Spain at 12:00 for a week, no time to forward it on to me so yet another week wasted - and we have our βMayfestβ thing starting next week. Very frustrating. Tracking showed it was dropped off around 3pm after he had left.
But the good news was that he was βweathered offβ (presumably he was flying himself to Spain) so he was back at his premises later. But the box was damaged and would have to be rebuilt before forwarding on to me so no chance of doing that today. As luck would have it, the actual rudder wasnβt damaged.
I asked if I could come and collect it. He said yes, no problem. Only thing is that I was in Aberdeen and him in Aylesbury, over 500 miles away. Well nothing for it but to get in the car and drive to boat, where we have just arrived. Tomorrow, Aylesbury out and return, then Friday back to Aberdeen.
A lot of driving but we get a couple of nights on the boat and I get the rudder in time for next week.

We walked across to Roade today and called at Roade House Hotel and cafe.
Very nice place although we only had an excellent coffee and of course cake (the good news bit π)
I had Battenburg and Jane had raspberry and coconut crumble cake, both home made and utterly gorgeous ... probably the best Battenburg I've ever had.
Well worth the walk.
I realise on a scale of one to ten this scores very low for good news, but nobody else seems arsed to post anything so it's the best I've got ππ»

My good news of the day was successfully applying for free ear wax removal at the local pharmacy. They are offering 'micro suction' which is apparently a lot better and more comfortable than the old syringing method. They wanted 6 volunteers for free of charge treatment on a training day later this month. Normal cost Β£60. A quick look in the ears, mine were quite bad, I'm now signed up.

The bit that seems to have been unclear was that my response was a joke. A whoosh-job. Never mindβ¦

Traditional whenever any hearing issue is EVER mentioned for someone to respond 'Pardon' or its equivalent.
Everyone knows that innit π
