Thanks to the work of Philip (bastard) Green, my wife and I, after 10 years of christmas temp work at BHS, have had to seek christmas temp employment elsewhere.
I have secured a job in a general store, and yesterday (can I remind you it was Guy Fawkes night) at work, they gave me a christmas jumper to wear.
Now , they are paying me, and providing the jumper, so perhaps it is churlish to complain, but 5 November!
On the plus side, the mindless christmas music hasn't begun yet.
Is it me or does christmas begin earlier every year?
Rog

In the transport industry we start moving Christmas tat in August. A couple of years back I took a load of Easter eggs to a Waitrose regional distribution centre on 22nd December.

it begins FAR too early for me... I don't do anything until 20th December at the earliest - the tree doesn't go up until xmas eve (to re-kindle childhood memories of my dad finishing work) and by new years day, the whole lot is boxed up and back in the attic...
THIS year, we're ignoring it and having a day on boat instead :-)

I understand the need to stock christmas goods, and therefore produce and move them around.
To a degree I can understand people christmas shopping now.
But surely, the actual celebration of the christmas festival could be left until at least December. I look a right duck egg in my jumper. It would be nice to restrict the wearing of it for a couple of weeks.
I actually enjoy christmas, but this prolonged and enforced fake jollity makes it harder to do so each year.
I am talking about the secular festival, not the religious one.

I'm normally a bit 'jingle fookin hells' but looking forward to it this year. Just got our trading licence and prepping for a couple of weeks outside castle quays in Banbury.
"This time next year Rodney!"

Towards the end of this month an assault team will be assembled in the Thunder Bar in an attempt to bring Red John AKA Big Red AKA ....SANTA down, for too long he has encouraged people to spend money they can ill afford on stuff they don't need. The last couple of years we tried to bring him down from the unStable Bar but failed, due in part to the Karma over the road. This year with the stout and trustworthy crew of the Thunder Punt I'm sure we will prevail Phil
