Just got home from work, driving in the snow, and there was this bird outside our kitchen window - don't think I've seen one of these before, but they're quite common. Photos taken 15 minutes ago. Edit March 2018: link to photos of Spotted Nutcracker now gone from my account. Nothing is forever. Apart from diamonds. And women moaning about you to take off your dirty shoes before you come in the house. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spotted_nutcracker

Oooh, never seen one of those before. We get robins, blue & great tits, goldfinches, crested woodpeckers, blackbirds, thrushes and starlings and that's about it.

I hate birds. Horrible noise they make specially the coots who sit and shit on the car wheel rafts I have tied to the side of my boat. "took took took" first thing in morning. Awful.

I have telegraph pole just over the fence and quite often there's a nutcracker tapping away..next door feeds every bird/rat/fox etc around and he goes from my telegraph pole to her restaurant In fact this place resembles a scene from 'the Birds' when all the Crows and Jackdaws perch on my fence waiting for next door to start feeding the masses.
