I'm sure the highways agency have rights across private land and the electric board. Nope. Neither do the Railways. Unless an agreement is already in place either legally or by long established precedent.

I have no idea, it was just an observation.
A friend's boat settled (the right way up fortuitously) in a field someway off the river Avon after the bad floods (2012?).
Insurance covered the recovery, but it took most of a year, which included negotiations with landowners to build a roadway sufficient to get a crane to the boat, and then onwards to the river some distance away.

Rog It wouldn't surprise me with an insurance company involved as chief negotiators.

I still think access for heavy plant is going to be an issue, should farmers be uncooperative. A threat to take away their EU-subsidies will soon make them very co-operative.

So the best estimates are six months from June and 2-3million pounds

Yes, I was reading the update.
I see they have the roadway in place now, so no unnecessary delays with that.
Reading about the various ecological responsibilities (badgers etc) is a little frustrating. They built the thing and wildlife resettled in and around it, so I would think the same would happen if they just 'cracked on'.
But that's the world we live in now, which I suppose is a good thing.
I wonder how much business will be lost during the year whilst the Middlewich is closed?

That's it? A 'tweet'? Rather low key don't you think? I don't think their appeal was very appealing, was it? Still, I blame that invisible and made-up boater who 'left the lock gates open'.

Good news that. I'll be heading that way April/ May. There are some nice carp a mile or two past there, had one at 18 pounds the summer before last. Bali before that though, hopefully my board will stay intact this time.

Stuart Mills could have dropped that from his £220,000 salary and not even noticed.

Paddles not gates. One of the rags claimed that the gates had been left open. Probably the Mail. You'd think regular readers would complain about the nonsense they publish. But no, they copy and paste it in our faces.
