So I wont need to pack a kevlar jacket or invest in a bolo, kris or other large knife for a "thats not a knife" challenge when I get to the Northern Oxford in September then?

Have you done the river Wey before Mrs tabby ?
if not then I for one recommend it.
I'll be spending a week from next Saturday on the Wey as long as there is enough water in it.
Single handed it would be a couple of days or maybe 3 to do godalming and back but as I have the woman and kids aboard I am not allowed to do long days/gallons of beer so we'll be doing a week.

In reply to Dogless, there will be several people visiting for a day, London is where most of my family live. Last time I spend a couple of days running an unofficial tourist shuttle from Paddington to Camden Lock. At least one and possibly both of my sons will do the tidal Thames with me. To Magnetman, no, not done the River Wey, might have a look although time and money are starting to run out now so I may have to hot-foot it back to my mooring afterwards and settle in to a few months of prostitute murdering truck driving.

There is a bit of scrote potential around Guildford. I once had someone hurling a coin at my boat there (in 1995). Fortunately they did not hit a window.

If I do manage to complete this trip, then this will be 2018's journey log. It's been a fantastic Summer, weather-wise. The best I can remember since 1976, the year I left school. The strange thing is that as much as I love boating, in a way I am staring to look forward now to getting back behind the wheel of an articulated lorry, which is an enjoyable thing to drive in its own way.

All that travel, and I bet C&RT's only logged you on your mooring Rog CRT do seem to be better at sighting my boat when it is moored rather than moving, in the period of this log I went to Llangollen and back, then did the Warwickshire Ring, then the Leicestershire Ring, and I was only logged once off of my mooring, at Wrenbury.

Just above Wolverton at the moment, day off today to check the engine over (plus I woke up in a bit of a lazy mood). Provisionally planning to do the tidal Thames on 11st August but it depends on when the crew can get along.
