Anyway, I can now see why krissypoos is permantly angry. I think I would be too if I had to reside in the calamitous NW region. My smugness may be evaporating along with the water. That's the Old West to Earith and beyond - our route for next week. Oh well, we'll go up the hundred foot - checks tide table; hmm no we won't. Saturday morning HW at Kings Lynn is 07:00, flood is about right at that time at Denver, too early to lock through so we could have a night tidal side Friday, except we can't because the time frame is too tight to finish work, load up, drive to Littleport, unload, thrash down to Denver and get through the sluice before it shuts - not forgetting to get ourselves fed etc. All that before I even contemplate how bad the water and weed situation is on the Levels for our return trip on the 4th of August... The view from the good ship Fairlight 1100 RPM, 4MPH (Speed limit anyway) kept the prop clear - a furious amount of rodding out kept the engine cool. A few Bridge Boatyard hire boats were barking well as they passed is in the opposite direction. One we spoke to at the Pike and Eel had to get a man out as it had overheated.
