When you get to the Staffs and Worcs, you have to do doughnuts on Tixall Wide, it's compulsory. Don't forget to visit Britain's oldest Wimpy Bar too, about a 10 minute walk from the canal.

About 5 hours ahead of schedule we decided it's too late to go a-shopping in the Trafford Centre and a suitable time and place to stop and fiddle about. Engine oil & gearbox oil first, floorboards up to let the one-lunged horse cool down. That's a lovely little engine, if the inside (probably full of old black oil ) looks as good as the outside, it will last longer than it's owners, of which I hope they'll live a long and happy life too.
Peter.

0.7 litres new gearbox oil, and 1.1 litres new engine oil gone in. We shall be purring along the Bridgewater. Anyone remember TB member 'gigoguy'. Looks like we're parked up next to him.... boat named 'Gig' and a CRT licence displayed. If I remember correctly he was the chap sticking it to the Peel Group/Holdings

Glad the engine''s upto the mark.
The money you spent on a rebuild, and the time it took, is one of the reasons I opted for a new one.

Red/brown tinge at Worsley due to iron ore mines not coal! 🙄 Wasn't the red brown tinge there before the canal or mines...

Red/brown tinge at Worsley due to iron ore mines not coal! 🙄 You are wrong. Read up on the Duke of Bridgewater's coal mines at Worsley. Really?
www.penninewaterways.co.uk/bridgewater/worsley.htm
Iron ore traces from the mines cause the orange tinge!
'The water in the canal at Worsley usually has an orange tint due to the water coming from the mines containing traces of iron ore.'

I find all Foxys engine oil changes quite perplexing......how often do others change their oil?..What happens to all the 'old' oil?....

We think it's some kind of OCD, but it gets worse if you mention it. I think the only cure is for him to get a 2 stroke engine.

Snigger! All them motorists up there don't know we're under the M6. Like trolls under bridges in Norway. Actually, you do get a very good view of that lock from the M6, driving a truck at least. I've had both viewpoints on several occasions.
