I even came into Paddington basin to make it simpler, but again you made excuses. Anyway, you stitched patty up, not me. I guess that's just the way you are.

It's OK, we'll ask Nurse, she'll know your name. It's time for your walk now.

Self moderated actually. The use of such a word on a forum I think you will find, is frowned upon, and merely cancels out the point the person was making rather, well, pointless. Nigel is notably anti crt . . . If I may correct you on this point (politely, as is my wont): I am not anti-CaRT; I am anti those within it who are responsible for abusing their positions (whether wilfully or ignorantly) to the detriment of the organisation, and to the harm of the nation's invaluable asset - including harm to those who give it its greatest intrinsic character and charm for mere observers.

I've been in there once in my kayak do not intend to do that again. Yes apologies to patty are due as I'm sure the electric strimmer was important

That's for clarifying that Nigel. So who do you think it is that the mere observers particularly like?

Its a shame the waterways cannot look forward to a positive future..so many negatives.. Its such a lovely way of life and its awful that the collective ..ie authorities and boaters cannot work together for the good of all As to the strimmer, in the end made decision to let the house go and let all the stuff I'd strim grow...so no worries though apologies if it took up boat space and I hope you found it a home...next garden is pocket handkerchief sized.. I'll get 'out there' to find the wildlife.

Anyway, back vaguely on topic and trying to ignore the childish bickering (Parry is winning on the divide and conquer tactic) ...
I will just mention that the CAA, who are responsible for airspace in the U.K., have recently been approving just about every “airspace grab” - ie some minor provincial airport putting in a request for huge swathes of controlled airspace - and granting them despite their own premis that airspace should be proportionate and take into account the needs of all users. This airspace is then lost to general aviation and particularly gliding.
Well with the grant of a huge chunk of airspace to Farnborough just so rich people can land their private jets there, enough was enough and currently in progress is a judicial review against this decision (perused and paid for by a large gliding club in Hampshire).
At the same time, there is an All Party Parliamentary Committee looking into CAA’s competence to be “in charge” of airspace allocations. It has 170-odd members headed up by Grant Shapps (who is a leisure pilot). So CAA getting their collars felt on two sides. Let’s just hope both find fault and encourage change! prepared to put their names forward against the CAA, surely there must be a fair number of voting MPs
My point is that when things get bad enough, sometimes the establishment does provide means to complain and get stuff changed. If there are 170 MPs interested in leisure aviation, surely there must be plenty interested in boating. It just needs one to get off their arse and make it happen.

I couldn't be bothered to emphasise that point, but recognised it from hearing similar over the years. It's common euphoria with new boat owners.

Enjoy it for a few years then become a miserable git moaning about it all.
I'm sure its a symptom of living on a ditch where you can go either one way or the other. No other options.
Quite a funny situation really in a psychological sense. Its very limiting and liable to cause cabin fever and make you go stir crazy.
This is why I like to also go on the yacht in the Bahamas. Makes a nice change to the humdrun ditch situation.
