Ooh He knows me then lol he's obviously not aware that I contribute £12,000 a year to the waterways. Funny sort of freeloading. You're a freeloader. You are selfish and give nothing whatsoever back to the waterways, or the folk on it. Maggers has contributed handsomely on this forum for boaters, and he keeps us entertained and informed without resorting to foul language.

just to clarify the baton twirling thing was an attempt at a humorous cwdf reference. No, it's you pulling the usual stunt of trying to undermine others who at least get off their butts and try to destroy other people's photo competitions, thinking they will fuck it for you.

that's a bit fanciful ! I had been planning a trip to Ricky but with the kids situation its quite complicated so it didn't happen. I would say you were avoiding me as much as I was avoiding you but then I know you are afraid of the London mafia lol There's an Underground station in Rickmansworth.

Your insistence on sticking to your completely arbitrary rules meant that most people didn't want to enter. You could have still run it with 6 photos but oh no you said you needed 15. So don't blame anyone else.

My point is that when things get bad enough, sometimes the establishment does provide means to complain and get stuff changed. If there are 170 MPs interested in leisure aviation, surely there must be plenty interested in boating. It just needs one to get off their arse and make it happen. There already exists an All Party Parliamentary Waterways Group, to which I used to belong in its previous incarnation. It is more of a closed shop nowadays, but it offers the most direct approach to MP's specifically concerned with waterways. publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm/cmallparty/register/waterways.htmRegrettably, as you wil see, the IWA acts as 'secretariat' for the group, but the relevant member MP's are listed, any and all of whom could be contacted. The link above is dated 2015, so one would need to check on current membership status.

Anybody who is concerned about the future of the waterways should email at least one member off the list.

The Floater
C&RT REMOVE ITS OWN COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE.
Peter Scot has sent me a copy of a further complaint made to C&RT. This time he has complained to chair Allan Leighton that C&RT has removed its complaints procedure from its website.
Peter has been waiting since July for C&RT to provide him with a breakdown of the £132m it claims was spent on 'maintenance' last year. He is still waiting for what he calls an honest reply.
More recently he made a complaint concerning C&RT's 2017/18 annual report expecting C&RT to follow its own complaints procedure which requires that, at the first stage, the senior manager responsible responds.
First, C&RT's information office, Melissa Ashdown-Hoff suggested that she would respond on behalf on C&RT. This was rejected by Peter Scott. Next, Jon Horsfall, Head of Customer Services Support suggested that he would respond. Again this was rejected with Mr Scott quoting the complaints procedures requirement.
C&RT's 'solution' was to remove its complaints procedure from its website followed by Jon Horsfall emailing to say Peter's complaint was not upheld.Needless to say, Mr Horsfall (who said he was responding as manager responsible for communication with our boating customers) failed to communicate what C&RT had done
Luckily, Peter Scott was on the ball and was able to provide documentary evidence of C&RT's actions.
Peter Scott's email ends:-
I am not addressing this complaint to you, Mr Leighton, because I am suggesting that the board is conniving with the executive to prevent the proper processing of my previous complaint. However, I am suggesting that the board is responsible for the actions of its executive and needs to take appropriate action to deal with the perpetrator(s). From a reputational point of view alone, this reprehensible action is something that CRT should be seen to be dealing with firmly rather than trying to sweep under the carpet.
I would suggest you take the following actions.
1. Replace the deleted document and link within the next 48 hours. 2. Investigate and take an appropriate course of action regarding the perpetrator(s). 3. Confirm that Mr Horsfall's level 1 response is withdrawn. 4. Process my previous complaint in accordance with Customer Complaints Policy & Process (2017).

In George Orwell’s dystopian book 1984, the Party that rules Britain has an ideology called ‘Ingsoc’ in Newspeak – ‘English Socialism’ in Oldspeak. One of the key tenets of Ingsoc is ‘the mutability of the past’ as summed up by the slogan: ‘Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.’ The Party goes to extraordinary lengths to control sources of information, continually rewriting documents to fit in with current thinking. The main character in the novel, Winston Smith, is a minor official in the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue in Newspeak). His job involves the rewriting and destruction of newspapers that have become ‘out of date’ or inconvenient.
