England didn't let themselves down but you can only get so far playing anti football.

I saw this while driving down City Road in Londonland and thought of you ianali. It seemed to have a look of a classic but when I got close it turned out to be a Caterham 7. I had wondered if it was a Lotus but it wasn't. I have to say that I really do like these little cars a lot and it is incredibly unusual for me to take a photo of something while I am driving. They just look like seriously wicked toys. Dax Rush was one I used to drool over in the kit car magazines I took from WH Smith in the early 90s. Hard to distinguish tween lotus and other sevens. As you say it’s a Caterham in the best colour. Owned a Dax a while back, lovely drive.

Jeez what a waste of time. All that running around just to get a draw. (Not to mention the girlie rolling around on the ground pretending to be hurt). Why didn’t they skip all the silly time wasting bit and just decide it on who can kick the ball into the goal from the penalty area? It’s all so exciting I think I’ll have to turn it off after watching for the last 5 mins. I can only take so much excitement and I’ve already had a lot today, there was an area of wet paint that had to be watched whilst it dried. Id had you figured as more understanding of other people’s likes, or dislikes than this Nick. We all have differing interests in life. Yes. I really like watching paint...

What you think about England subs and them taking pens? I wondered about that too. Stinks of a betting scam doesn't it. Fresh body on pitch the last thing you want them doing is penalties ! I don't know much about football but I like to think I can do psychology. Bookies did have England as favourite on this one. Do people in charge actually like sport or do they like money ?

What you think about England subs and them taking pens? I don't concern myself thinking about penalties, they are a lottery, but if there's a giant in goal (who is also an excellent goalkeeper) it's always going to be tough. The pundits will never talk about it but England didn't construct a single simple triangular midfield movement during the entire match. Kane caused trouble during the first half by coming short but Italy soon wised up to that. England's only threat was with pace from wide areas as has been the case throughout the tournament. It's difficult to critisise the manager, he can only work with what he has. The fact is that England don't have a single central midfielder with above average skills with the vision to create progressive attacking movements with simple, mostly short range passing exchanges. Italy had an excellent one in Jorginho, and others around him made it all work. Modern day football relies on this. England's style was a throwback to the 80's. They did very well to get as far as they did.

That Italy goalkeeper did make the English one look a bit childlike physically.
I still don't understand how it is possible to miss a penalty. Surely from a numbers point of view you just kick it as hard as possible right down the middle just above ground level. Going for the edges just increases the chance of the goalie pushing it out.
Very odd. I think they all get a bit too "into" it and try to be clever.
Just boot it really hard at his bollocks !!

Three very poor penalties, who ever coaches them to do that should be sacked.
There were much better choices of players.
Southgate must take the blame for picking the 5 players, if he knew they would try stupid things and allowed it, then he has no one else to blame.
The three should be ashamed of themselves. Were were in control of the shootout.
Throughout the second half and extra time Italy were the much better team so congratulations.
Still really happy to see us in a final but it is gutting.
Let's see how they respond at the world Cup.

Perhaps the keeper knew which way and didn't gamble. Rushford missed the goal entirely had he not, it would have been a different story and we could have forgotten the other two. Blah blah blah. Yes it's a lottery, but sending the keeper the wrong way and scoring is a skill in my opinion.

It's pickford I feel sorry for. Had the other two done their job his second save in the Italian's last pen could have won the tournament and made him a hero for ever.
But we're weren't good enough the best team won.

A real achievement to reach a major final ... young players will gain huge experience from the ride.
No disgrace to lose on the ridiculous penalty shoot-out ... to decide a team sport by individual pressure seems ludicrous but that's how it is.
Onwards and upwards to the next tournament, perhaps with greater belief and tournament play awareness.
Really sorry they couldn't make their first half superiority count more on the scoreboard.

naughtyfox you have made multiple claims that you only post about covid on the three threads. This isn't one of those three. You simply don't get it. You have an opinion, that's great, please share it with us but not the trying to force your opinion as the correct one. The issue is that many of us actually tell you what life is like in the uk, instead of taking it on board you lie about what we say. You twist those words to fit your own agenda, what's worse is you then constantly tell us our views are wrong and yours is the only correct one. The only views you will consider are the crackpot ones in the daily mail and other unknown sources. By being humble when being proved wrong would show some class and give you some credibility. Some of the stuff you say on the topic is interesting but no one will discuss it with you because of the above, and those traits prevent any normal discussion on it. Which is a shame. So of you pop back to those three threads. You will note the only replies on them are yours.
