Years ago I read an article in Performance Bikes Magazine which was all about how to reduce weight. Instruction no.1 was 'go on a diet'.

tbf i lost 5kg quite easily just before covid bollocks, cut back on carbs and knocked the beers in teh week on the head, treat myself on the weekend.
Then lockdown kicked in and i got lazy, now put the 5kg and another 4kg on top.

Carbs are bad. I've been working on weight loss for a while now, so far managed to lose about 6 kilos. Further progress has been slow, I need to add more exercise. It's a personal thing, there will be no medals.

Saw a proper fatty outside a chippy the other day. Talk about 'belly gonna get yer'. Also once observed a pidgeon near a maccy dees that was so fat it had lost the ability to fly. It was a podgeon.
ETA
There is a devil haunts thee in the likeness of an old fat man. A tun of man is thy companion. Why dost thou converse with that trunk of humors, that bolting-hutch of beastliness, that swollen parcel of dropsies, that huge bombard of sack, that stuffed cloakbag of guts, that roasted Manningtree ox with the pudding in his belly
Henry IV Part 1, ii,iv
If sack and sugar be a fault, God help the wicked.
(Henry IV Part 1, ii,v)

Anyone tried Wrigley's Ebike gum?
Apparently it's being trialled in Yorkshire.

bit of a detective aren’t we? Well no not really Chris, it was a jest, a joke.. I doubt very much Ian would own one. Now run along and argue with Daddy dunkley. remind me what your name was before you flounced?

Eleven hundred quid is a lot of money ... I'm really struggling to see how it can be almost four times better than the bike costing £300 Rog Brompton are a great make and hugely popular. I have a Halfords road bike, it's done me well and cost a couple of hundred. Now a proper decent carbon fibre road bike could sell for 1k to 2k more. They are definitely miles better. The quality of the build and the quality of parts used are completely different.

But a folding bike isn't a proper anykind of bike thebfg ... its selling point is it folds and is easy to carry/store. If you wanted to go off cycling you wouldn't buy a folding, small wheeled bike I suggest. If you can achieve the folding easy to carry/store goal for £300 why would anyone want to spend £1175 ? Rog

Rog I can get a 65" tv for £400 or i can get a 65" tv for £1200 pounds, same size screen so why pay so much, well because its built better, the fine details means using the netflix app on the £1200 is quicker and smoother than the £400, the sound without any soundbar is better ect.. I bought a pizza oven for £150, the good ones are £300, the one i have takes 10 minutes to cook a pizza, and even then its not as good as the others that cook it in 90 seconds. It is what it is, you pays for what you get.

Sometimes the quality of a thing isn't easy to see unless you can compare directly with another. The Brompton is really quite excellent but expensive. Part of it is in the way it folds, partly in the quality of the components. For instance Halfords sell a folder for 350 squid but an often-noted fault is bendy forks - you wouldn't know by looking at a picture.
