Yes obviously @twerp ... but if you want a quality bike I suspect you wouldn't choose a small wheeled fold up one.

Depends what you want the bike for. You can take a folding bike on a train. Not so easy with a standard item.

Yeah its about the size of the wheels, you can drop the handle bars and seat right down and almost fit it inside a small suitcase, my mountain boke folded down is still a lump of a thing!

Oddly the only house I can see from the boat is one owned by "the Brompton man" according to local knowledge. Not the original man but a more recent man who enabled significant increase in production. Apparently they do 40,000 a year! God's teeth and I was like "do people actually get things done in this world?"
So perhaps a significant part of the price is the brand.
ETA its actually a really nice house if you like houses. Most people would probably very much like to own it but having lived in these places as a kid I have had my desire and motivation to aspire to this sort of thing completely eradicated.

But a folding bike isn't a proper anykind of bike thebfg ... its selling point is it folds and is easy to carry/store. If you wanted to go off cycling you wouldn't buy a folding, small wheeled bike I suggest. If you can achieve the folding easy to carry/store goal for £300 why would anyone want to spend £1175 ? Rog I don't have a need for a folder but for some it is the only bike the need, that meets their requirements. Lack of storage, ease of putting in the boot is two. But for most people who have a folder is for commuting, easy to take on a train and easy to store at work. But your right, I only have proper bicycles.

I think I'd buy the £300 folder and have the £875 change to spend on haemorrhoid creams Rog

A bike thief's wet dream.
I once met someone who had his (non Brompton) bike nicked when he was standing beside it.
It sounds like an apocryphal tale but it's actually true.
