I wonder where his phone was if she was able to "Take it". Presumably he was completely shitfaced and non responsive and the only way to communicate was by taking the phone. One must ask the obvious question which is why did she not remove herself from the area? That would be the logical thing to do unless you were specifically wanting to have a fight. Some people are specifically wanting to have a fight. It just the way it is. Never understood why but there we are. I'd have left the area, personally, not wishing to partake in a punch up. Her view could possibly have been that she was doing nothing wrong, why should she be 'forced' to leave the area?

Just going back to the women feeling safe thing, this is the latest news clip about the Tory conference: “According to a report in The Times newspaper, Ms Cowton was in the hotel bar - one of the main destinations at the autumn political gathering - when a drunk man in his 30s, sat in a seat vacated by her friend. She said he made her so uncomfortable that she asked him "several times politely to leave" and when he refused to do so, she took his phone and dropped it on the floor. "He went to retrieve it and then he came back and attacked me," Ms Cowton told the paper. “ So someone sat in an empty chair at a reception. It’s not an unreasonable thing to do. The lady in question objected and made a physical action to throw his phone onto the floor, and then seemed surprised when he became angry with her and took physical actions against her. This is the thing with some women, they think they can take physical action against a man and not expect to receive physical action in retaliation. A man doing same would expect to receive physical retaliation and would thus probably not embark on the course of action in the first place. Fair logic, not something you would ever hear/ see on the beeb. To them, if a women feels uncomfortable in the presence of a man, even if the man is unaware of the presence of the woman, he's just going about his normal business, he's guilty. If there's no crime currently on the statute book to cover his apparent misdeed one should be created. To sum up: If a woman feels uncomfortable with a man for any reason whatsoever this is the fault of the man. If a woman says she feels uncomfortable, this is irrefutable evidence that a man has committed either 1/ a crime 2/ something that should be a crime.

Not quite a boat but I've designed a system to tow my surfboard behind my push bike. It's based around a kayak trolley so makes a lovely loud rumbling sound as it moves along. So, it should receive plenty of attention and perhaps some disbelieving looks.

I don't particularly like having my language policed, it's an affront to the freedom I have by right, following my birth. My human right, if you prefer. However: given that a minority of people find the c- world particularly offensive I'm happy to moderate this to some extent in order to further the harmony of humanity as a whole.
As a descriptive word (rather than a casual insult) I suggest that 'minge' is a more than capable alternative.
So I could say: Barmouth was heavily loaded with minge this summer. However, most unfortunately, it just wasn't my type of minge.
Another alternative might be 'clout'. Certainly hard hitting but I'm not sure its use is widespread enough, might need a PC led campaign to spread the word, let it be known that it's better to use this word rather than the highly offensive (to a small minority) c word.

Would you care to explain the difference? Hope is the process of setting goals and following through on them, while optimism is a positive thought pattern. Agree with the latter but I'd describe hope as a yearning for success in something, when that success isn't guaranteed.

Sounds like there may be a few legal papers flying backwards and forward in the near future. Nothing to worry about, just deny you've received them, like Prince Andrew.

Pissing down in Barmouth for the third consecutive day. I suppose it was due, we've had nothing more than a few short showers since the middle of May. No damp from the chimney yet, but I'm sure it will be along shortly. I've been trying to get someone to repoint it since January. Two have promised to do it, but haven't. Might end up doing it myself, no something I've done before though.

...if you ever wanted to see a prime example of the career politician, one who jumps from pillar to post depending on where he can best get his name in the press, who has no principles other than being a success himself... Not like Doris then. Fair point. The difference is that Johnson is a toff. It's understandable that a toff might want to look after his own, despite his weak bluster to the contrary. Burnham though, makes himself out to be 'the people's champion' whereas as long as he's the champion he couldn't care less, and would support anything that was popular. He really is the ultimate populist career politician.

By the time Labour realise that the halfwit leadership is not getting anywhere, their best chance (Andy Burnham) will have buggered off again. I’m not suggesting he’s any good, but he’s more electable than mr and Mrs dimwit. He probably is more electable than Starmer who frankly, is just boring. However, if you ever wanted to see a prime example of the career politician, one who jumps from pillar to post depending on where he can best get his name in the press, who has no principles other than being a success himself, Burnham is that person. I remember his first speech as major of Manchester 'we are going to end homelessness in Manchester' to raucous applause from his supporters. A few years on, homelessness having risen in Manchester his only responses were 'I make no apologies for setting high targets'. Oh, and blaming the government.

Maybe they need to consider a "new labour". Now there's a thought. I guess they could call themselves 'New, New Labour' Hopefully the organisation will learn something from the last 'New Labour'. For example: 'no more boom and bust' does not mean spending excessively during a boom, pretending that there will never be a bust. And then, if they really love Muslims so much they should in the future desist from starting wars in Muslim countries.

It probably doesn't help with your charging issue but I've noticed that "Canaline" is an anagram of "Nice anal". Brilliant. I don't have the kind of intelligence that can spot anagrams but when people do, I find it hilarious. We had a manager at a previous workplace, Rod Gibson. Some clever soul spotted that this could be rearranged: Boring Sod. Funny as fuck, because he really was.

I don't think describing people with different politics as 'scum' does much to support their cause. It's understandable that people who are passionate about their politics feel this way. However, such rudeness and disregard for others is generally knocked out of people in the school playground.

I would love to take up sailing. Something just a little bigger than a windsurfer. Transportable, cheap to store, but big enough to sit down on/ in. I've no idea if such a thing is available. Sailing seems to have gone out of fashion. Try a laser. A Pico might be easier though. I must report I had Bass for tea yesterday, Co-op cheap bin Bass. Easy to catch. Delicious with a few fresh runner beans from the garden. Farmed bass for sure, almost certainly from Turkey. Wild bass (poached) sells to the pubs for £15 quid a kilo here (whole fish) who put it out for £19.95 for a small portion with veggies etc.
